- Drafting, negotiating and advising on agreements for licensing of rights in programmes to channel providers, platforms and streaming services in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
- Drafting, negotiating and executing agreements for publication of digital services via social and online platforms including FAST channels in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
- Reviewing, drafting, negotiating and executing other relevant agreements for licensing of rights as required.
- Establishing relationships with external licensees and the relevant internal team members in GP's sales and digital teams with a view to developing close working relationships and an understanding of the commercial and legal issues concerned.
- Assisting with and undertaking any other activities within the department as reasonably required.
- Preparing and executing amendments to existing concluded licence agreements.
- Dealing with ancillary matters pursuant to licence agreements.
- Advising on related matters in respect of rights issues, music rights, programme information, materials availability, etc. in relation to the above.
- Attending departmental and inter-departmental meetings to discuss departmental and company objectives, commercial and legal issues relating to the business division and the company.
- Liaising with the Rights teams to confirm availability, ensure consistency with the rights system and that all contracts are properly entered on the systems.
- Attending routine meetings with line manager to discuss workload, ongoing negotiations and issues arising therefrom and deals concluded, including (where undertaken) proposed variations to ITVSGP Standard Terms as well as any contentious matters arising and their progress to resolution.
- Strong technical commercial law experience with a focus on intellectual property
- Ability to work independently, leading negotiations, taking decisions and escalating issues where required.
- Understanding the nature and value of rights in television or films and experience in licensing rights in programmes (either in a sales or rights in capacity)
- Proven track record of concluding deals successfully and quickly
- A team player and effective communicator, both written and verbal
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise a varied workload to meet deadlines
- Ability to take a proportionate and solutions' focused approach
- Able to resolve problems under pressure and make accurate assessments of critical issues
- Ability to quickly establish excellent working relationships with commercial and legal colleagues
- A background in either television or film licensing, commercial contracts or intellectual property.
- Previous in-house experience would be an advantage but not essential.
- Three to four years PQE (as a guide only)

The team
The team provide legal and business affairs support on a range of contracts and commercial deals with a particular focus on licensing of rights ('rights-out') of scripted and non- scripted programmes to networks, channels and streaming platforms globally; and to provide support on digital publication (FAST, Youtube, AVOD) and other legal matters relevant to the Global Partnerships business as required.
