Security Manager and Deputy CSOnContract type : PermanentnLocation : London
Overview of rolenKey responsibilities and primary deliverables:nWorking closely with the Operations team, our external security company and QHSE, you will be responsible for the daily operation, coordination and tasks pertaining to all requirements related to our fleet security.
Responsibility in ensuring the fleet is compliant with the relevant requirements of the ISPS codenProactively reviewing the changing security situation, advising management accordingly and escalating when requirednProactively monitoring the planned movement of all managed vessels and identifying any potential security risksnProactively, liaising with the external security company to ensure any high-risk vessel is adequately protectednMonitoring all vessels on passage to ensure they are following company security proceduresnAs required by the Director of Operations or designated DPA, to assist and advise in emergency response drills / situationsnResponsible for coordinating with the external security company in the processing, updating and maintenance of Continuous Synopsis Record (CSR), Ship Security Plan (SSP) and submission of relevant declarations for vessels as required by the flag-statenProviding timely and professional advice to management, departments and ship crews on all vessel security matters, including the development, implementation and maintenance of proper management systems and tools to support ongoing improvements regarding vessel securitynProactively communicate with and provide effective support to vessels on all queries related to security concerns or precautions to be takennSupport and encourage appropriate levels of risk management and awareness including preparing risk assessments and continuous development of the company's security procedures.
Skills profilenRelevant experience & education
A minimum of 5 years' experience with ship security, including a strong understanding and working knowledge of the ISPS code is a requirement for this role.nPrevious experience as CSO with a navy or seafaring background will be an advantagenDemonstrated understanding of the security risks of the fleet and locations; with the ability to design and successfully execute, effective and cost-efficient risk mitigating strategies.
You will possess the necessary competencies needed to understand complex shipboard processesnStrong commercial acumen is imperative in order to interpret how the security function will effect/contribute to the business objective and ability to balance commercial and security requirementsnYou must be a confident communicator at all levels of the organization, in both written and spoken English including being able to create policies, procedures and reports for wide distribution.nAbility to prioritise conflicting demands against short timelinesnWell-developed numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills, with strategic thinking ability, to support decisions with sound reasoning and judgement.nPositive attitude, strong work ethic, collaborative in style and excellent communication skillsnStrong focus on delivering quality and meeting deadlines.
A successful track record in dealing with a broad set of activities within a fast-paced environment, whilst managing ambiguity and pressure wellnAn eye for detail and a desire to follow up on issues to ensure proper closurenFlexible in working hours as you will be required to respond to messages / incidents outside of normal working hoursnStrong academic record with professional qualifications in maritime would be an advantageThis is an office based role.
