    Are you passionate about providing excellent nursing care to older adults? If so we have a post available for permanent full time Band 6 Senior Community Registered Nurse at Alexander House working in our Community Mental Health Team.

    You will develop and improve your skills and knowledge in the community and be an active member of our multidisciplinary team. You will be a Key Worker with a caseload which will be challenging at times, as well as rewarding.

    You will have a knowledge of severe and enduring mental health illness alongside the multitude of co-existing factors that affect the health and wellbeing of our patients, their carers and families.

    We are looking for an enthusiastic team player with good communication skills and the willingness to learn and develop as well as share their knowledge, in this exciting field of mental health. In return we offer you the opportunity to work with a highly skilled and experienced MDT providing support and supervision for you, excellent standards of care for our service users. Please note that the standard working hours for this role are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm or 9am to 5pm, however flexible working can be considered.

    We are an established team covering Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon, Wetherby, working in peoples own homes and other care environments.

    Job responsibilities

    Person Specification Qualifications

    • Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council. RMNH/RNLD
    • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
    • Recognised Practice Supervisor and/or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent. Must be achieved within 6 months
    • Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing clinical supervision OR willingness to work towards within 6 months

    Experience

    • Minimum of 12 months experience post completion of preceptorship experience working with people with mental ill health, Autism or Learning Disability in a care environment.
    • Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers.
    • Providing clinical supervision to individuals or groups as professionally appropriate.
    • Supervising or assessing students on practice placement.
    • Working in a multi-disciplinary team
    • Quality improvement activities
    • Experience of working with Older People with Mental Health conditions

    Knowledge

    • Demonstrable knowledge to post-graduate level of evidence-based practice in caring for patients in the designated field including specialist knowledge of co-morbidity (physical and mental health) in relation to acute and chronic conditions.
    • Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act).
    • Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment.
    • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
    • Working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections

    Skills

    • Provide leadership and monitor, co-ordinate and prioritise the activities of a team.
    • Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers/families and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
    • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and undertake lead professional responsibilities
    • Provide effective clinical supervision, teaching, training and assessing in clinical practice.

    Other

    • Able to work in accordance with the Staff Compact and Trust Values and Behaviours.
    • able to travel independently across the trust as required
    • Able to engage with vulnerable people and work effectively in distressing and challenging circumstances
