A vacancy has arisen for a Warehouse Operative based at DFDS Logistics in Immingham. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-paced, growing business.

The role is to deliver a high standard of customer service, sufficient to take in and dispatch products, whilst working to health and safety standards.


Working week
There are 2 different shift patterns, 06:00 - 14:00 and 14:00 - 22:00, Monday to Friday.

Total hours per week: 40


What will the apprentice be doing?

With full training and support, your principal responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with Warehouse Manager/Warehouse Supervisors as required
  • Loading and unloading of vehicles
  • Use pallet trucks for loading and unloading trailers
  • Responsible for general housekeeping of the warehouse loading bay, ensuring a safe working environment is constantly maintained
  • Forklift driving (with training)
  • Order picking

General responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all relevant policies, operating procedures, and standards at all times
  • To ensure that the Company's activities are in accordance with its Safety, Health and Environmental policy
  • Always work with due care and attention to ensure the personal safety of yourself and others
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
  • Carry out any other role or task that is commensurate with the spirit and purpose of this job description
  • To carry out any other duties that may be required from time to time by management

About you:

  • IT skills, General operative inputting/retrieving of orders on inhouse system by use of scanners
  • Excellent English, both written and verbal

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative apprenticeship standard:
A bespoke programme of practical, technical and vocational learning
Functional Skills in English and maths at Level 1 (if applicable)


What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

DFDS are offering this position for a new apprentice to join the business, to learn and support the warehouse/stores and to gain an understanding of the wider organisation.

DFDS is a large organisation, with many different departments and locations. There is a view of the role progressing to a permanent career, with internal progression opportunities.
