    About the Role


    Base Location: Havant, Reading or Glasgow preferred (other locations considered)

    Salary: up to £47600- £ performance related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

    Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible working options available

    What is the Role?

    SSE is embarking on an exciting journey to embed agility into our ways of working, building capability for a digital SSE of the future which meets the needs of our customers in a new way. We're building a team to support activities across a number of SSE IT teams that support our Business Units, and are seeking an IT Category Manager to help support this exciting time in IT by taking an leading role in all tender activities.

    Working within our Group Procurement function, you'll be responsible for the execution of a category management approach to the procurement of a specified portfolio of products to ensure compliance, drive efficiencies, mitigate supply risks and drive down the total cost of ownership to SSE.

    You'll be immersed in all team tender activities, building a Category Strategy to support and manage the suppliers once contracts are executed to ensure contract commitments are met and appropriate governance is in place.

    In this role, the main responsibilities include:-- Building a Category Strategy to support and manage the suppliers, once tenders are complete and contracts in place.

    Conducting internal and external analysis, engaging effectively with stakeholders to determine optimum sourcing strategies.

    Leading a range of sourcing activities in support of category plans and in accordance with all policies and procedures.

    Liaising with the Senior Category Manager on a regular basis to provide updates on category performance and additional insight through reporting/commentary as required.

    Managing relationships with suppliers and monitoring supplier performance, interfacing with the Business to understand the impact of sourcing activities and fostering relationships with Legal to build robust & agile contracts.

    What do I need?

    Previous IT procurement experience in a similar industry with a personal proven track record in executing complex procurement activities. Specific knowledge of cloud based suppliers would be advantageous.

    Good understanding and experience of Category Management and its implementation.

    Good understanding of Contract Management and Governance.

    Broad knowledge of contracts with ability to draft special terms, including dispute procedures.

    Stakeholder Management, with a strong customer focus and the ability to influence people outside your own sphere of responsibility.
