HMP Lewes is a category B male prison.Lewes prison is based near the centre of the historical town of Lewes, which is just a 5 minute walk away.
Due to HMP Lewes holding remand prisoners, we do require staff to work on a rota basis and you can beasked to work nights, bank holidays and weekends although if you are looking forflexibility we can discuss this at interview stage.
You'll receive an annual salary up to £49,770 per annum - depending on experienceHow will we support you?What you'll be doingAs a Senior Mental Health Nurse you will Lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse led service and prevent hospital admissions.
You will undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medicationAttend emergency response situationsAssess patients, and undertake reception screening.You will assess patient's health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge.
You will ensure that you assess physical and mental health of prisoners on admission to the prison and throughout their period of custody so that any appropriate referral can be made.
You will also be responsible for making a clinical judgement with regard to any immediate need and long term treatment.
What we'll look for in youPractice Plus Group is a specialist provider of NHS services into prison healthcare across over 45 different prisons, young offenders and immigration removal centres.
We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history.The prison population is one of the most vulnerable and challenged patient groups in society and the delivery of their health care is conducted within often difficult and demanding environments.
You will be a qualified Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever changing.
You'll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.
You will have either have experience within clinical management or be ready to take the next step in your career towards leading a team of clinical professionals.
HMP Lewes is a local category B men's prison for those on remand to local courts, sentenced and those awaiting release.
