    Science Lead Practitioner - Raise Academy - Widnes (The Raise Academy)

    The Raise Academy is a brand-newschool opening in September 2024. The school will specialise in supporting upto 64 pupils aged

    The Raise Academy pupils will have theopportunity to be engaged in a wide range of vocational and practical subjectsthat will give them new opportunities to progress personally, socially andacademically.

    The curriculum will be underpinned by high quality and supportiveMaths, English and Science and all lessons will be taught in small classes ofup to 8 pupils, with teachers, learning mentors and pastoral/teachingassistants.

    Support the strategic vision and direction of the academy.

    • Deliver, secure and sustain the effective teaching of Science throughoutthe academy
    • Undertake Performance Management and Line Management responsibilitiesfor a group of teachers and other staff in the school
    • Deploy staff and resources efficiently and effectively to meet specificobjectives in line with school's strategic plans.
    • To be responsible for the day to day leadership and management as partof the Senior Leadership Team.

    The Lead Practitioner of Science will deliver, secure and sustain effective teachingand learning (both of Science and generally) throughout the academy, monitorand evaluate the quality of teaching and standards of students' achievement,and use benchmarks to track set targets for improvements.

    Contribute to the teaching of Science throughout the school as required

    • Develop the Science curriculum and its assessment; work with theHeadteacher and other Senior Leaders to monitor and evaluate it in order toidentify areas for improvement .
    • Ensure that the Science curriculum and assessments meet the academy'scurriculum requirements
    • Workcollaboratively with colleagues ensure the academy's approach to all coresubjects is consistent.
    The Lead Practitioner will help motivate, support,challenge and develop staff to help secure improvement (particularly within theScience subject area)

    They will:

    • Maximise the contribution of staff to improving the quality of educationprovided and the standards achieved and ensure that constructive workingrelationships are formed between staff and students in the Academy
    • Lead, support and co-ordinate the provision of highquality professional development
    • Ensure that equal opportunities and inclusion policies are reflected inpractice
    • Specifically motivate and enable all staff at the Raise Academy to carry outtheir respective roles to the highest standard, through high quality continuingprofessional development based on assessment of needs
    • Support in establishing a culture and curriculum across all subjects whichfulfils the aims and requirements of the wider community as set out in thevision
    • Seek opportunities to invite parents and carers, community figures,businesses and other organisations into the Raise Academy to enrich studentexperience and to promote the Academy's value to the wider community
    • Collaborate with local schools, the local authority and other agenciesto promote the academic spiritual, moral, social, emotional and culturalwell-being of students and their families
    • Represent the Academy at relevant meetings, as and when required
    Health and Safety / ChildProtection

    • To help ensure that health and safety standards meet statutoryrequirements, monitoring health and safety matters within the school,particularly ensuring that members of the staff take reasonable care for thehealth and safety of themselves and others
    • To help ensure that Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures andDepartment of Health assessments of Children in Need are rigorously compliedwith, and that the welfare and health and safety of students are of primeconsideration
    • To promote the safety and well-being of students and staff
    • Develop and plan their own CPD to support the academy'sstrategic development plan
