    Chief Technician Aseptic Operations (XR07)

    Weare looking for an ambitious, self-motivated and committed Pharmacy Technicianwho is registered with the GPhC to join our current team working in our busyRadiopharmacy.

    Youwill work as part of a large multi-disciplinary team who make a realdifference to patient care and clinical research by delivering acomprehensive service across the Trust.Radiopharmacy is located within the Nuclear Medicine Department inBexley Wing, St James Hospital. Itoperates as an unlicensed aseptic dispensary under Section 10 exemption,managed by the named Accountable Pharmacist.

    Main duties of the job

    PharmacyPreparative Services provide ready-to-administer injectable doses across adiverse range of patient needs. Preparation of Chemotherapy, intravenousinjectable medicines including antibiotics, and Parenteral Nutrition occursin our Aseptic Service, whilst our Radiopharmacy provide ready-to-useradiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapy use.

    Forthe applicant possessing the right skills, knowledge, and ambition, this is afantastic opportunity to lead the radiopharmacy technical team and collaborate across the widerPreparative Services departments. Previous experience in Aseptic/PreparativeServices is essential and we will provide full in-house training through astructured training programme.

    Thisis a full time role with 06:30-14:30 working day. Weekend, bank holiday, andout of hours service will also be contractually required based within theTrust Aseptic Services

    Thisis a condensed hours full-time role across four days (37.5hours). Your timeeach day would be shared between Radiopharmacy (06:30 start time), andAseptics Services from late morning. Weekend, bank holiday, and out of hoursservice will also be contractually required.

    Job responsibilities

    Thisis a varied role working within the Nuclear Medicine department which willsee you completing many different tasks on a day to day basis. You will workwith the Accountable Pharmacist and Site Lead Radiopharmacist, taking a strategic lead for service andworkforce development, working closely with all areas not just in PharmacyPreparative Services but across Medicines Management and Pharmacy Services(MMPS).

    Therole will also involve:

    -Leading on the training of all staff across the department, including localtraining (such as preparing aseptic products), supporting staff to completeGPhC accredited Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications and Science ManufacturingTechnician course. These roles will also work closely with the MMPS Education& Training Team to support rotational student technicians and qualifiedtechnicians within Preparative Services.

    -Lead on the management of the day to day workload liaising closely with theSpecialist Radiopharmacy Technicians, deploying staff in to the mostappropriate areas to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently

    -Be responsible for ensuring the Radiopharmacy is fully functional and thatthe stringent cleaning and monitoring schedules are followed

    -Lead on the development of our quality management system working closely withthe Accountable Pharmacist and scientist workforce

    -Lead on staff management issues ensuring local policies are adhered to.

    Asthe successful candidate you must have excellent communication andinterpersonal skills, be self-motivated, be able to work on own initiative aswell as working within a team.

    Person Specification Qualifications

    • BTEC in pharmaceutical science or NVQ level 3 in pharmacy services
    • BTEC/Certificate in Aseptic Dispensing or Quality Assurance or equivalent

    Experience

    • Substantial post qualification experience of hospital pharmacy, including at specialist pharmacy technician team leader level and comprehensive experience in aseptic dispensing/ processing, including
