    The Voyage Education Partnership is a charitable Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) working in Lincolnshire to educate close to 4000 learners from the ages of 3-16. We currently have nine academies in our family, and work in a small geographical area around Boston and Spalding - with each academy no more than 30 minutes from each other. This is essential to how our MAT operates, enabling us to give immediate support when needed, and for our academies to collaborate and work closely together.

    Job Description

    Haven High Academy in Boston is looking for 2 Heads of School to join them in September 2024. Voyage Education Partnership is seeking to recruit two outstanding leaders who will understand, inspire and be proud to represent the school community.

    Your opportunity

    As Head of School, you will be pivotal in maintaining high standards of excellence and committed to championing the needs of our learners. You will be promoting and working at the forefront of modern education, harnessing the power of expert teaching to provide an exceptional learning experience. We are looking for two exceptional Heads of Schools to assist the Headteacher in shaping a vision and direction for the two individual campuses of Haven High Academy, setting out very high expectations and with a clear focus on pupil achievement.

    Applications are welcome from individuals who can apply empathy and are emotionally intelligent. Candidates should be driven by a clear moral purpose and a passion for working with young people. You must act as a role model to staff and learners, build teams and empower others.

    This is an exciting opportunity to work within a Lincolnshire based Multi Academy Trust.

    Key Purpose


    •To manage and lead the school on a daily basis.


    •To implement the strategic vision and aims created by, and with, Headteacher.


    •To inspire, challenge, motivate and empower all members of the school community to carry the vision forward, promoting excellence, equality and high expectations and securing commitment and confidence


    •To ensure that provision at the school meets the needs of all learners and reflects the highest standards.


    •To use resources effectively to ensure longer term sustainability of actions.


    •To ensure the school is a safe and secure place for pupils and staff.


    •To accurately evaluate and communicate the effectiveness of the school's provision.


    •To work in collaboration with the Voyage Academies supporting the values and vision, sharing expertise and supporting colleagues within the family of Voyage Academies.


    •To explore opportunities which will improve the learning and educational environment for all pupils.


    •To have a secure knowledge of educational change and its impact upon the schools.


    •These key responsibilities are subject to regular review and change in accordance with needs and priorities of the academy, the Trust and the development of the post-holder.

    Key Accountabilities:

    Strategic Direction and Development of the Academy


    •To share the strategic vision of the school and assist the Headteacher in translating it into practice in ensuring that it is shared, understood and applied by all staff.


    •To work with the Headteacher to devise the vision and development plan for the school.


    •To monitor the impact of identified actions within the development plan and report to the Headteacher accordingly.


    •To implement clear, evidence-based improvement plans for the school and identify next steps.


    •To promote the best interests of the school - both individually and as part of the wider trust.


    •To be responsible, with the Headteacher, for the appointment of staff and all related personnel issues.


    •To ensure that opportunities for partnership working within the community and beyond are used effectively.


    •To ensure that strategic aims are applied appropriately in the context of the school's unique characteristics and identity.


    •Work within the school's community to translate the vision, core aims, agreed objectives and operational plans which will promote and sustain continual school improvement.


    •Publicly supporting all decisions of the multi-academy Trust.

    Leading Teaching and Learning


    •To monitor the quality of teaching at the school and enable effective coaching and mentoring strategies which support staff development.


    •To work with the Headteacher to accurately evaluate the quality of teaching and learning overall.


    •To maintain high standards of everyday learning and behaviour at the school.


    •To demonstrate high expectations through setting and achieving challenging targets for all pupils at the school.


    •To ensure assessments are accurate and reflect the requirements of assessment systems.


    •To track pupil outcomes and plan effective interventions which develop enhanced outcomes.


    •To ensure that provision is regularly reviewed to ensure coverage of a broad, balanced and cohesive curriculum.


    •To ensure that pupils receive high quality learning experiences and opportunities at the school.


    •To ensure a continuity of provision based on best practice within the school.


    •To embrace and ensure equality for all pupils so that every pupil makes excellent progress.


    •Administer strategies that secure high standards of pupil conduct & attendance.


    •Challenge under-performance at all levels, ensuring effective corrective action and follow-up through coaching and mentoring.

    Securing Accountability


    •To be responsible for the effectiveness of delegated aspects of the appraisal process.


    •To ensure the robustness of evidence about the quality of teaching and provision throughout the school and to identify next steps within this.


    •To ensure individual staff accountabilities are clearly defined, understood and agreed, with the understanding that they are subject to rigorous review and evaluation.


    •To ensure that actions and provision at the school is compliant.


    •To be the public face of the school in the community


    •To maintain and develop positive relations with the parents and the community which enhances the reputation of the school and ensures effective working relationships.


    •To work with parents and carers to immediately address issues, through enabling systems which encourage access to partnership working.


    •To ensure that the work of the school enhances equality of opportunity and meeting the needs of all learners through high quality provision and overcoming disadvantage.


    •To champion opportunities for developing the rich and diverse school community, which respects the rights, responsibilities and dignity of all.

    Managing the Organisation


    •To ensure that safeguarding is paramount in all of the school's work.


    •To manage the day to day working and actions of the school.


    •To ensure systems and practices occur which ensure the school is safe and secure.


    •To work with the Voyage secondary phase schools, and beyond, in ensuring the best provision and outcomes for the school and trust.


    •To ensure that the organisational structure works effectively at the school to ensure best practice in all areas.


    •To ensure all staff are valued as individuals for their actions and work.


    •To ensure effective health and safety processes are in place across the school environment.


    •To take actions to try and ensure the school reaches its PAN and is fully subscribed in each year group.


    •To ensure that the school's environment meets the needs of the curriculum, health and safety regulations and safety of all pupils and staff.


    •To ensure a pastoral care system that focuses on the needs of all pupils.

    These are full time, permanent positions.

    Professional Experience and Knowledge:

    • Successful teaching and curriculum experience
    • Experience of management and financial resources at a senior level
    • Recent and relevant leadership experience
    • Knowledge of secondary principles and practice
    • Successful experience of raising standards for all with measurable outcomes
    • Experience of working in collaboration with Trust Governance, other educational bodies and the wider community to develop positive relationships
    • Evidence of highly developed performance management and appraisal skills
    • Understanding of quality in learning and teaching and how to achieve excellence
    • Knowledge of key considerations in effective management and deployment of people and other resources
    • In-depth knowledge and experience of Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures
