- Heavy vehicle service and maintenance technician (level 3) - Desired
- HGV Level 3 or equivalent. - Desired
- Membership of a relevant professional body to an appropriate level (e.g. SOE, IRTE, ICFM, IAM) - Desired
- Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage – Desired

Description
Menzies Distribution are looking for an experienced Maintenance Controller to join our business. Reporting to the Head of Fleet, this role will support the business and the Fleet & Engineering Managers (to whom there will be a dotted reporting line), by controlling and authorising aspects of maintenance and damage spend dependent on its location within an agreed authority matrix, budget control and supplier management. This role also requires monitoring of vehicles that are off the road and a proactive approach to expedite repairs and manage downtime claims with escalation to the Fleet & Engineering Managers with non-compliance and maintenance related issues.
The Details:
Key Duties and Accountabilities (Will include but not be limited to)
Managing maintenance suppliers and authorising repair expenditure coupled with depot engagement, collating, preparing and reporting on data at regular management review meetings within a fleet that is diverse within its specification and geographic location.
The job holder will develop excellent relationships with customers, suppliers and key stakeholders within the business in order to deliver best in class control of maintenance expenditure, supplier management and depot engagement. They will strive to continually improve the engineering related standards provided to the Company by ensuring engagement and co-operation across all sites and suppliers. Strong communication with excellent data analysis and reporting skills are fundamental to the success of this position, as is managing and challenging maintenance and damage charges. They will optimise value and reduce whole life costs, thereby maximising profit to the business.
The role will ensure that legislative and regulatory requirements within scope of the Maintenance Controllers remit are upheld, and the highest standards of health and safety are always maintained.
