Description
Hackney is one of Britain's most exciting and fastest-changing boroughs. We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself.

We operate a large and diverse fleet of municipal vehicles and plant within a complex legislative framework managed through our Fleet Management Unit.

This includes HGV's and PSV's operated on separate 'O Licences'.

Our main drivers for effective delivery of service are legal compliance, cost efficiency, safety, continuous improvement, environmental sustainability and customer satisfaction.

We have created a new post of Fleet Compliance Officer to enhance support to internal fleet users particularly with regards to Operator Licence compliance but will also include best practice compliance for all fleet users regardless of the vehicle / plant status and supporting Health & Safety procedures within our fleet maintenance facilities.

We are looking for someone that can demonstrate the following:

  • National Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (HGV or PSV)
  • Complete and up to date knowledge of all aspects of O Licencing
  • Minimum of 5 years Fleet Compliance Management experience
  • Knowledge of DVSA standards and audit processes
  • Knowledge of H&S standards and audit processes
  • Complete and up to date knowledge of writing 'risk assessments' and 'method statements'.
  • Hold or have previously held IOSH and/or NEBOSH accreditation
  • Comprehensive knowledge of LGV Fleet Operations and engineering/maintenance
  • IT literate with experience of a drivers hours recording/monitoring system

The recruitment process is anonymous. Therefore, we do not accept supporting statements or CVs.

Interview date:
Week commencing 15 May 2023

We are also working towards our vision, which is to be a place for everyone; where residents and staff can be proud; a place that celebrates diversity and where everyone can feel valued, included and involved.

In order to achieve this, we look for people who are:
Proud; Ambitious; Pioneering; Open; Proactive and Inclusive.
