    Description

    Job Summary

    Cost Assurance Analysis Service (CAAS) is seeking enthusiastic individuals for an innovative 2-year development scheme focusing on estimating and its specialisms. The Estimating Capability Development Scheme (ECDS) offers a competitive salary, benefits, and expert trainers, paving a structured career pathway within the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and its delivery agencies.

    CAAS is a professional organization within the MOD with a century-long track record of supporting cost management. Its outputs are crucial in providing independent cost assurance advice and analytics across Defence.

    CAAS supports the MOD's decision-making and value for money delivery by offering specialist cost estimating, cost engineering, efficiencies, benefits, and accountancy analysis products and services to MOD customers.

    The organization is establishing a new Defence Nuclear Enterprise (DNE) team to assure portfolio costs, risks, and schedules. Additionally, CAAS will aid in developing best practices and expertise across the DNE portfolio to create a sustainable capability.

    The DNE encompasses organizations and arrangements facilitating the Continuous At Sea Deterrent (CASD) and submarine forces, including the Defence Nuclear Organisation (DNO), Royal Navy (RN), Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA), Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE), Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), UK Strategic Command, Sheffield Forgemasters, industry partners, and government departments.

    These positions entail 37 hours per week. Successful candidates are expected to begin around October 2024.

    Job Description

    Selected candidates will be assigned a Permanent Duty Station at one of the advertised locations. They will undergo training in Bristol for 8-10 weeks within the initial 4-6 months of the scheme. CAAS follows a hybrid working policy, allowing flexibility in the workplace.

    Candidates will undergo a mix of classroom sessions, on-the-job training, and self-directed learning. They will progress through various business areas, enhancing their skills to handle projects independently.

    Successful applicants must pass a Knowledge Based Assessment during the probation period.

    The 2-year program includes work placements, mentoring, and formal training to become a practitioner in estimating, leading to career advancement within the organization.

    After completing the scheme, candidates have the opportunity to be promoted to Higher Executive Officer (HEO) level after a competency interview.

    Grade Entry Qualifications

    To be eligible, candidates must have a degree or HND in a STEM subject, a relevant STEM apprenticeship, or three A2 Level grades BBB or above in a STEM field.
