    Health and Wellbeing Practitioner – Inclusion Lead (Heathrow IRC)

    Location: West Drayton, Middlesex

    Salary: £25,154 per annum

    Key Responsibilities

    Operating within a comprehensive healthcare setup, The Forward Trust delivers Substance Misuse Recovery Services at Heathrow IRC, located on-site at the Heathrow Immigration Removal Centre.

    As a Health and Wellbeing Practitioner, you will collaborate with a team to offer holistic support to detainees regarding substance misuse, mild mental health concerns, and overall health and wellbeing issues. Your daily duties will include:

    • Attending daily referral meetings & team huddles as necessary
    • Participating in multidisciplinary reviews
    • Conducting assessments of needs, risk management, and recovery planning
    • Managing caseloads and providing group and individual interventions
    • Promoting and directing individuals to services
    • Planning discharges and releases to ensure seamless care continuity
    • Maintaining records and entering case notes in compliance with data protection and GDPR guidelines
    • Contributing to enhancing services and achieving organizational goals
    • Engaging in relevant training and professional development
    • Offering transitional support from the detention center to the community to prepare detainees for release or deportation
    • Preparing reports and engagement summaries for official use

    In your role as inclusion lead, you will take on additional responsibilities such as:

    • Proactively addressing service gaps to ensure inclusive provision
    • Coordinating with management and the team to ensure efficient delivery of services to all user groups
    • Driving forward developments for new resources or identified needs
    • Organizing and conducting service user forums to collect feedback for enhancing service quality
    • Serving as a primary point of contact for issues or queries related to inclusion and diversity
    • Contributing to and advocating the organizational ED&I strategy
    • Planning and executing events and activities monthly to promote diversity and multicultural awareness among our team and the broader community within the center

    Requirements

    • Understanding of challenges faced by substance users and individuals with mild mental health problems
    • Demonstrated experience in conducting risk assessments, comprehensive assessments, and designing and implementing SMART care plans
    • Extensive experience in providing psychosocial interventions, including using motivational interviewing techniques in both individual and group settings
    • Thorough familiarity with and dedication to the 12-step recovery process from addiction
    • Experience in delivering counseling/CBT services to individuals in correctional facilities or those dealing with health and wellness, or substance abuse/alcohol issues
    • Residency in the UK continuously for the past 3 years
