Description


The Product Owner is a key role within the Product Development team, by working with multiple cross functional teams to prioritize and define product features.

Specifically working closely with Product Management and Engineering teams, they will align product features and deliverables with the product roadmap and corporate strategic objectives


Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities:


  • Manages multiple products while facilitating the development of new features and functionalities.
  • Acts as a key partner with assigned lines of business to understand high level business goals and relative priorities.
  • Collaborates with business operations to assist in the detection, diagnosis and resolution of defects as they relate to owned products.
  • Works within an agile product delivery model and drives the scoping for product improvements including development of business cases, supporting metrics, business requirements, and product specifications.
  • Oversees user acceptance testing and supports gotomarket planning in order to gain successful customer engagement and product adoption.
  • Reviews product regularly and has the authority to accept or reject features or changes.
  • Working alongside analytical team partners, ensures success measurement plans are executed and outcomes are communicated to the necessary stakeholders.
  • Writes narratives, use cases, user stories and requirements to enable the product planning process.
  • Delivers quality documentation including customer journeys, use cases and technical diagrams.
  • Develops, monitors, evaluates and standardizes key metrics and product analytics to improve technical (performance, reliability, scalability) and customer / business performance, fostering a culture of datadriven decisions across internal stakeholder groups.
  • Participates in agile ceremonies with product scrum team as required.
  • Prioritizes feature list items from the product backlog to suit business needs whilst considering development capacity.
  • Manages the support process from root cause analysis to resolution in order to address bugs and identified gaps.
  • Regularly reviews and maintains written documentation to ensure products are functioning as designed, accurate information is being presented, system issues are properly reported, and product releases are properly tested prior to a production release.
  • Leads "build vs buy" tradeoff decisions where applicable

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential

  • Experienced with end to end product ownership, with the proven ability in delivering results in a complex environment
  • Experience developing products in an Agile environment, which a strong understanding of agile software development methodologies, values and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively translate customer opportunities into product and technology dependencies.
  • Demonstrated product portfolio with the proven ability to delivery through the full product lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to drive projects forward and effective communication and collaborate with multiple cross functional teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Jira, and Confluence
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field
  • Previous industry experience in telematics, UBI and/or a SME technology company is preferred
Desired

  • Understand basic principle of UI design for mobile
  • Analytics / Firebase knowledge

Other Contextual Information/Special Features:


  • Due to the geographical nature of the role, availability outside normal Canadian or UK hours may be required
  • Due to the nature of this role travel to client sites will be required
  • Due to the nature of this role travel to IMS UK offices may be required
