- To have undertaken a qualifying training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and be registered with the UKCP (cpja college) or BPC (British Psychoanalytic Council)
- To have a recognised qualification in one of the core mental health professions psychiatric nursing, clinical psychology, occupational therapy, social work, medicine or is able to demonstrate equivalence to a core profession in NHS mental health services
- Qualification in other psychoanalytically informed models for example Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy, Transference Focused Psychotherapy, Mentalisation Based Treatment
- Car driver or suitable alternative
- Able to undertake flexible working hours
- Demonstrable competence to work in the mental health field.
- Training in and experience of working with a range of other therapeutic models.

- An experience of personal therapy research, audit and clinical governance.
- Capacity to undertake research and service audit projects under supervision.
- Evaluate and research the efficacy and practice of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
- Capacity to provide psychoanalytic psychotherapy to a full caseload of patients, including those with severe and complex problems under supervision.
- Capacity to organise and manage under supervision a complex caseload of patients who are suffering from severe difficulties and who require specialist Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.
- Capacity to assess new referrals for analytic psychotherapy under supervision following appropriate induction and training.

This post in the Dynamic Psychotherapy Service covers the population ofLeicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We are part of a SpecialistPsychological Therapy Service that includes a Personality Disorder Pathway anda CBT service.
This servicehas strong ties with the NHS Departments of Psychotherapy in Derby, Leicesterand Nottingham, particularly in respect of training NHS psychotherapiststhrough the UKCP accredited South Trent (ST) Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training.
We are lookingfor a forward thinking psychotherapist, with excellent communication skills whocan play an active role within the Specialist Psychological Therapies team aswe move into service redesign and improvement. The service is based atGwendolen House Leicester.
The post holder will carry full caseload seeingpatients under supervision for individual, brief, group psychoanalyticpsychotherapy and assessing new referrals.This means that applicants will need a qualifying level of trainingin psychoanalytic psychotherapy registered with the CPJA college of theUKCP and have experience of delivering psychoanalytic psychotherapy in the NHS.
Main duties of the job
Towork autonomously as a Senior Adult Psychotherapist within professionalguidelines and the overall framework of the Services policies and procedures.
Todeliver under supervision the systematic provision of a psychoanalyticpsychotherapy service to patients, taking referrals from all sectors of care.
Tosupervise and support the treatment of patients by psychoanalytically informed psychotherapyprovided by Visiting Therapists and trainees within the Service.
Tosupport and work under supervision to offer specialist consultation,supervision and training to colleagues within Adult Mental Health services
Tocontribute to policy changes and service development in line with theprinciples of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
Undersupervision undertake research and utilise research skills for audit, policyand service development.
Tosupport teaching and training within the Service at introductory and intermediatelevels and as competence develops take on greater responsibility for teaching.
