Position Overview:


As a Learning Support Assistant for Students with Special Educational Needs, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of students with a range of SEN requirements.

You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure that all students receive the necessary support to achieve their full potential.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide onetoone or small group support to students with SEN, both in the classroom and in specialised support settings.
  • Assist with the implementation of individual education plans and behaviour management strategies.
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum and adapting learning materials to meet their needs.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence and confidence.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to monitor student progress and adjust support strategies as needed.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs, where required, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students at all times.

Requirements:


  • Previous experience working with students with SEN is highly desirable, although not essential.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of individuals with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Flexibility, patience, and resilience in dealing with the challenges associated with SEN support.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or SEN support (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, CACHE Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning, etc.) would be advantageous but not essential.
  • A commitment to upholding safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the welfare and protection of vulnerable individuals.
