Vacancy Description


A permanent post within the Education Welfare and Safeguarding Service has become available in the Medical Tuition Service to support pupils with special educational needs and work with schools, children and families within West Berkshire providing education under section 19.

There will be an element of 1:1 teaching within this post.


An exciting & flexible teaching opportunity the post holder will have an understanding of need and create plans of support for tutors in teaching and learning.

This will support pupils' to access education provision and support transition plans back into schools by liaising with the family, schools and any other agencies, as appropriate.

A committed team worker, the post holder will carry a caseload and work on their own initiative. Time management skills are essential given the variety of this challenging yet rewarding role.

We need someone who is able to create a positive leadership shadow and always promote the needs of the pupil.


We are looking for somebody who has a good understanding of the education system, laws and processes, and who wants to help improve children's life chances; a commitment to safeguarding children is essential.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year.

Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council's corporate buildings.


This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
