    With flexibility totravel across Vias service and partnership delivery locations, this Directorof Nursing role has a flexible base location and is a great opportunity to joinand help shape our developing and dynamic organisation.

    Main duties of the job

    This important role is a part of Vias new leadership structure and provides the successful candidate with a great opportunity to build on existing strengths, make a positive impact and drive new developments.

    We will consider partand full-time applications and flexible working arrangements such as condensedworking hours.     Job responsibilities

    RolePurpose

    To lead the development and delivery of the organisations nursingstrategy, ensuring excellent standards of care are delivered across allservices.

    To operate effectively as part of Vias multidisciplinary seniorleadership team, role modelling collaborative, solution focused and innovativeapproaches to current, new and emerging challenges.

    Keyduties and activities of the role

    To provide expert, experienced, and dynamic nurse leadership across theorganisation. To include guidance, advice, clinical decision-making and supportto nurses, independent prescribers and to wider clinical and non-clinicalcolleagues.

    To deliver strategicvision, clarity of purpose and clinically safe, cost-effective care as part ofa broader multi-disciplinary clinical and operational leadership team. To demonstrateand deliver on our commitment to coproduction and service user engagement withinthis.

    To take the lead oninfection prevention and control.

    To support excellenceagainst regulatory standards ( care quality commission), delivering againstthe clinical governance agenda and working collaboratively with colleagues toachieve excellent standards of care and outcomes.

    To take accountability forthe nurse workforce and to identify and deliver opportunities that establishVia as an employer of choice, where nurses want to train, develop andspecialise.

    To work collaborativelywith colleagues and key stakeholders across multi-disciplinary teams to deliveron Vias strategic and business plans.

    To ensure adherence withall Via policies and Safeguarding principles as well as ensuring servicedelivery meets CQC, NMC and RCN requirements and standards.

    To lead on the recruitment,selection, and development of nurses, ensuring line management and clinical supervisionare in place, training and encouraging an inspirational and motivating learningenvironment for all staff.

    To lead on and support relevantexternal strategic and service delivery partnerships and represent Via atexternal events, meetings and external influencing activity.

    Person Specification

    Experience

    Essential

  • Passion for and knowledge of substance misuse services and other socially excluded or vulnerable groups.
  • Experience of leadership and management, including managing recruitment, performance monitoring and appraisal, induction and mentoring.
  • Demonstrable commitment to working in partnership with other professionals such as NHS Trusts and CMHT, primary care providers, Criminal Justice System, community groups, housing providers and sexual health services. Experience of developing strong integrated pathways which support the achievement of good outcomes for service users.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, record information accurately in a timely way and to work calmly under pressure.
  • Experience of achieving and maintaining exceptional performance against KPIs and evidence of understanding of audit frameworks and guidance relating to drug and alcohol services (particularly CQC).
  • Great team working, communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrating a highly cooperative approach to supporting colleagues and the whole team to deliver objectives.
  • Excellent IT skills including use of Microsoft Office programs and digital meeting platforms and Case Management Systems like Nebula, System One or Theseus.
  • Understanding of and ability to apply excellent Safeguarding and risk management practices and a demonstrable understanding of the Health and Social Care regulatory requirements of the Care Quality Commission (CQC), National Institute for Clinical Excellence standards for Health and Social Care and the GDPR confidentiality and privacy regulations.
  • Qualifications

    Essential

  • NMC/HCPC Registration.
  • Degree in Nursing/Health related subject.
  • Master's level qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development relevant to this role.
  • Level 5 Qualification in Leadership and management. Or the ability and commitment to complete this during time in post.
  • Nurse Independent Prescriber Qualification.
