    Job Description About Vantage Data Centers

    Vantage Data Centers powers, cools, protects, and connects the technology of the world's well-known hyperscale's, cloud providers and large enterprises.

    Developing and operating across six markets in North America and six markets in Europe, Vantage has evolved data center design in innovative ways to deliver dramatic gains in reliability, efficiency and sustainability in flexible environments that can scale as quickly as the market demands.

    Vantage's business is growing exponentially through a combination of greenfield market expansion and acquisitions across North America and Europe.

    Position Overview

    The IT Construction Engineer is responsible for delivering a professional technical support service to external and internal customers of Vantage.

    The role requires delivery of solutions to hardware and software problems, whilst working in accordance with company policy and predefined SLA's.

    Essential Job Functions
    Subject Matter Expert representing the IT department for all construction projects.
    Strong background designing and implementing fault-tolerant IT networks.
    Strong background designing and building Hypervisors, Windows, and Linux servers.
    Maintain deadlines and communication to Construction Project Managers and General Contractors.
    Work under limited supervision, both independently and within a team environment.
    Manage multiple one-time and/or ongoing projects.

    Duties

    To provide professional guidance and specialist advice to the business on both systems and project matters ensuring projects are initiated correctly and appropriate levels of governance are applied.

    Collaborate with internal partners to design technology solutions to fit the need of project.

    Development of business cases, whole life costing analysis and ensuring briefs and feasibility proposals are developed in accordance with business aims.

    Supporting projects so they remain within budget and time parameters, identifying and planning effective use of internal and external resources.

    Manage any incidents / software defects, escalations and change program.
    Identify opportunities to develop systems to meet business requirements, utilizing existing functionality or through systems development.
    Support the Senior Manager, Information Technology in delivering services that are essential to the success of the business

    Job Requirements

    Strong technical knowledge covering Windows Server and Desktop, Active Directory, VMWare vSphere/ESX, Office 365, Firewalls, Security, Storage, Backup Technologies, and Networking.

    Relevant technical certifications such as CCNA or VCP certification, preferred.
    Experience working within mission-critical facilities and/or critical infrastructure, preferred.
    Project management experience, preferred.
    Ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports and presentation skills.
    Travel is expected to be less than 20%, occasionally for training purposes.
    Potential employees must complete a background check successfully.
