    As the new Chief Risk & Compliance Officer you will have the opportunity to influence the direction and shape of the firm's ongoing expansion by bringing together existing and new business practices into a single governance and risk management framework. You will interact with key stakeholders across the business, including senior management and your ability to interact with these stakeholders will be a key to your success. Over time, we expect the scope of this role to expand in the areas of oversight and governance including the SMF16 (Compliance oversight) and SMF17 (Money Laundering reporting).

    What will you be doing?
    • Driving the development, implementation and maintenance of the firm's risk management strategy and framework
    • Managing the firm's regulatory compliance regime, and proactively delivering any required changes
    • Leading a steering group to prepare the firm when applying for wider FCA permissions, alongside the Head of Compliance
    • Providing pragmatic, risk-balanced advice to the business on new initiatives / strategies and existing business strategy, demonstrating due consideration for the firm's reputation and its clients
    • Acting as a key Member of RiskCo
    • Working collaboratively with the Compliance team to enable it to maintain a robust, risk-based monitoring programme
    • Developing, preparing and presenting risk reports to ExCo, the Board and other committees as required
    • Taking responsibility for oversight of incident management and remediation
    • Taking responsibility for oversight of risk control reviews and testing

    What skills, qualities and experience are we looking for?

    • Self-motivated, highly organised and able to work with significant initiative and proactivity
    • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information in a straightforward way at both board level and to the entire workforce
    • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and presentation skills to enable effective engagement of people at all levels
    • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with a demonstrable ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders at all levels whilst building effective relationships
    • Evidence of resilience and tact in the face of challenge from senior individuals, including negotiation to successfully manage such situations
    • Strong commercial awareness with demonstrable experience of working with the business to find solutions
    • Ability to think strategically and have vision while also focusing on the details and execution
    • A team player while also maintaining the ability to work independently
    • Proven experience of project management and handling regulatory changes
    • Knowledge and experience of risk management and risk frameworks, including governance and reporting in the UK financial services industry
    • Knowledge of data privacy / GDPR an advantage
    • Proven team management skills and experience of developing and leading established teams
    • Experience of working with compliance and risk management / GRC systems desirable
