    Description

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    ·Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to the Human Resources department and business leaders regarding all aspects of the employment life cycle in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

    ·Draft and revise employment law-related documentation, such as contracts and other employment-related agreements.

    ·Assist with drafting and development of employment policies.

    ·Develop strategy for responding to legal claims and threats of litigation in conjunction with the Associate General Counsel – Head of Employment Law (based in Washington DC) and Associate General Counsel – Head of European Legal (based in London), including assisting with fact development in pre-litigation and/or litigation matters.

    ·Respond to audits and other legal information requests.

    ·Litigate on the company's behalf and/or coordinate litigation and other legal matters handled by outside counsel.

    ·Assist with due diligence in mergers and acquisitions and advising on employment issues arising from mergers, acquisitions and intra-group reorganisations.

    ·Develop and deliver training on employment law compliance matters.

    ·Manage multiple priorities and ensure that deadlines are met.

    ·Ability to work with and manage external counsel in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, when required.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Law degree from reputable college in a European jurisdiction with excellent academics;
  • England and Wales qualified solicitor (or equivalent European jurisdiction qualification);
  • PQE, including experience at a top law firm;
  • Experience with European employment laws, in particular in France, Germany and Spain and including working with works councils;
  • Experience with employment laws in the Middle East and Asia, in particular the United Arab Emirates, China, Singapore, and Australia, is not required but is highly desirable;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Excellent analytical and negotiating skills;
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with ability to be flexible and adapt to frequently changing workload and responsibilities;
  • Acute attention to detail with ability to multi-task;
  • Must have initiative, be able to act decisively, work independently and exercise good judgement;
