Solicitor/Legal Executive (Court of Protection) – Hybrid

We are currently recruiting NQ – 1yr PQE Serious Injury Solicitors/Legal Executives in Court of Protection to join our growing firm, working flexibly from home and our locally serviced offices, who would work closely with the Partner and Head of Department in building and developing the Court of Protection and Private Client Team. Their primary role would be to handle the management of Property and Affairs Deputyships, working with brain injured and vulnerable clients, Trust management, assisting with tax affairs and accounts, drafting Personal Injury Trusts, Statutory Wills, and other associated applications to the Court of Protection.

Key responsibilities

Work closely with the Partner on Deputyships focused on providing litigation support, with the potential to manage an independent caseload as the number of cases increase, some of which might include contentious Deputyship work
Provide comprehensive legal advice and representation to clients and family members, within the context of the Mental Capacity Act and other relevant legislation, supported by the Partner
Attend clients at hospitals, in their home and care/nursing homes
Make regular payments to clients and keep accurate schedules of these payments. Also forecast forward spending and creation of budgets
Day-to-day contact with clients and their individual lifestyle requirements
Delegate tasks, supervise work and provide constructive feedback where appropriate to paralegals and trainees
Consider all aspects of the case management system and initiate and suggest improvements to current procedures
Provide excellent service to clients at all times in line with CFS and core values

Skills

Good working knowledge and experience of Court of Protection
Experience of using a case management system
Flexibility to work across CFG offices and travel within the UK as required
Ability to work within limits of own competence and seek guidance and support where needed
Ability to apply understanding, critical thinking and analysis to solve problems

Qualifications

Qualified Solicitor status or equivalent
