Solicitor/Legal Executive - United Kingdom - Clarke Willmott Llp

    Default job background
    Description

    Solicitor/Legal Executive – Housing Conditions – Manchester

An exciting opportunity for a Housing Management lawyer to join our team in Manchester, with plenty of client contact and on-going training and support.

Headed up by Lindsay Felstead (Legal 500 and Chamber & Partners ranked), we are proud to offer what we believe is one of the largest Housing Management teams in the country. The team sits alongside our leading Property Litigation team rated Tier One in the legal journals.

Our team pulls-together specialists from across the firm with particular expertise in social housing, providing a "one-stop-shop" for our social housing clients by delivering seamless, sector focused advice across a wide range of legal areas, including corporate and commercial, planning and environment, procurement, development, construction, commercial property, finance, charging, sales, governance, renewable energy, housing and asset management, employment and HR, debt recovery, and property and commercial litigation.

Our Social Housing team and Social Housing Finance team are ranked in the national tables by the Chambers and Legal 500 directories. We act for a large number of clients in respect of all aspects of housing management. Our extensive client base includes regional and national RPs.

    Role: Disrepair Solicitor
    Location: Manchester
    Hours: Full-time
    Term: Permanent
    Vacancy Reference: 1212-LMR

    Who we are

You'll be joining a national law firm that enjoys a strong reputation, made possible by our exceptional people – each chosen for their industry knowledge and passion for their field. We want to help you to reach your full potential, love the work you do and deliver the best results for your clients. It's our goal to make you feel great about working with us, and we work hard to cultivate a culture that makes it easy for you to stay with us for many years.

We work flexibly and you'll be empowered to work where you do your best work, balancing your individual needs with the need for us to engage as teams and deliver excellent client service.

Most of our people choose to work in a hybrid fashion, working from home and attending our offices on occasion. Our offices are in Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton, and Taunton.

Day to day, you'll be successful in this role by:

Our Housing Management department has lawyers based in London, Southampton, Taunton and Manchester. We act for a large number of Registered Providers of Social Housing on all aspects of their housing functions including housing conditions claims, possession actions, antisocial behaviour, leasehold queries and policy and procedure work.

We want to invest in your career, and help you to become a recognised expert in your own right, so you will have plenty of one-to-one development and encouragement from your supervising partner (Matthew Wilson), and the wider team. We will ensure that you get a good level of client contact and potential for early responsibility.

Our asset management team, which handles the departments housing conditions claims, has a strong reputation within the sector and enjoyed significant success at trial defending claims. This has led to an influx of instructions, including pre-litigation and litigated claims. This role will focus on defending housing conditions claims.

Excellent client care and relationship skills are a must as much of the role will include developing and fostering relationships.

You will soon become an integral part of this highly regarded team, playing a key part in delivering an excellent level of service to our clients and building your legal career accordingly.

This role is right for you if:

You will demonstrate talent, ambition and a real interest in the social housing sector. We expect you to have built up enough experience to be able to manage a housing conditions claim, both pre-litigation and litigated files, with minimal supervision, either in house or private practice.

The team drafts most of its own pleadings, and you will have gained experience of undertaking such work along with preparing witness statements for use at trial.

Advocacy experience will be advantageous, but is not essential. Most importantly you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, being able to adapt your style to communicate effectively with a wide range of professional people, and enthusiastic about delivering excellent quality service to your clients.

We expect you to be able to use your initiative, and be a forward-planner, anticipating your clients' needs in advance wherever possible.

    What we can offer you:

Clarke Willmott LLP is a national law firm with offices in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton and Taunton. We provide a wide range of legal services to corporate clients, organisations and individuals. Having enjoyed significant growth in recent years, we now have over 600 people, including over 100 partners and we are continuing to grow.

A career at Clarke Willmott will feel different to other law firms. We thrive on our individual differences and diversity because as a team, we are united by our shared values and mutual respect. Working with us you will feel empowered, valued and free to be yourself in a safe and supportive environment.

There's no doubt we expect the best from our people and even the occasional extra mile. In return, your dedication and commitment to the continued success of the firm will be rewarded with a comprehensive range of flexible benefits .
