What will I be doing?

An exciting opportunity for a contract Security Engineer to join Birdie as part our platform squad that exists to enable all of our engineering squads to build reliable, secure software. Operating in a scale-up, B-Corp environment, you will work alongside our product squads to conduct security reviews and add your skills to executing the improvements that ensure we're designing and developing secure and compliant systems.

You will assess our application and cloud security posture, working with our squads to prioritise and implement solutions and roadmaps of improvements to elevate Birdie engineering to the next level of maturity. You will provide expert advice on embedding security in our code, securing our development activities and our cloud infrastructure, supporting a shift-left strategy and helping our squads prioritise their security roadmaps. We expect the contract to be 6 months in duration.

What skills would help me be successful?

In-depth knowledge of the application security, DevSecOps and the ability to apply these guidelines in a practical context
In-depth knowledge of AWS, network and cloud security architecture best practices
Knowledge of ISO27001
Experience implementing a variety of security tools and technologies e.g. SIEM, code/vulnerability scanning tools, and cloud security solutions.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills

This role will need to be based in one of the following countries; UK, Spain, Ireland, Germany or France. We organise regular in-person events and online socials to make sure you can meet up with peers. If you want to come to the offices in London or Berlin, you're most welcome of course Birdie cannot currently support any visa applications, we do require permanent right to work in the role's location
