TheRole

The role of the BusinessAnalyst is to act as a conduit between the IT team and businessteams to identify business requirements document those businessrequirements ensure the solutions being designed meet thosebusiness requirements and support the business through theimplementation and roll out of the programmes and projects todeliver those requirements. The Business Analyst will take a leadrole in supporting the business to understand their businessproblems and what the best solution is for those problems thismight be systems based or indeed process or organisationallyfocused.

The Business Analyst will identifycreate and facilitate process design changes by conducting businessand systems process analysis as required

TheBusiness Analyst will own the Business Requirements Documentationand Business Requirements Traceability Matrix and will ensure thatthe Solution Design Documents support those business requirements.The Business Analyst will work alongside IT internally andexternally where required to ensure that the business requirementsare fully understood translating and simplifying those requirementswhere needed into more business or technical language as requireddepending upon the audience.

The Business Analystwill assist with the writing of business cases and theidentification of business benefits and their monitoring. TheBusiness Analyst will work with the wider team to ensure that thebusiness elements of testing are prepared for including UAT. Thiswill also involve supporting the Super User and businesscommunities in the writing of test scripts and business scenariosas well as overseeing and supporting the business teams in theexecution of UAT and the tracking and monitoring of its progress.Working alongside the IT teams to feedback UAT results and followup as required.

The Business Analyst will be atrusted member of the IT team to work with the business and willuse their knowledge and experience in retail to build that trust.

The Business Analyst will be expected to take anactive role in the life of the IT team taking on internal projectsand cross functional activities whererequired.

The Business Analyst role will alsoplay a role within the Design Authority and broader Architecturefunction within IT.

Responsibilities

Documentand own the Business Requirements using the Business Requirementsdocument.

Support the business teams and workalongside them and IT to prioritise requirements.

Capture BI requirements as part of thedocumentation of the business requirements in the BusinessRequirements Document.

Support the business inthe writing of business cases and conducting cost/benefit analysis.

Support the business in prioritising theworkload that comes through to the IT team.

Analyse and Model requirements and own therequirement and their communication end to end throughout thelifecycle of the programme or project.

SolutionAssessment and Validation.

Run workshops andother communication events/types to elicit requirements from thebusiness.

Own the delivery of these businessrequirements through the solution delivery by owning andmaintaining the Requirements Traceabilitydocument.

Write business scenarios/user casesand test scenarios for business related testing in UAT workingalongside the business stakeholders.

Assessbusiness processes and systems inefficiencies and makerecommendations.

Provide Business Analysisskills for the detailed review of Change Requests that come throughfrom the business looking at the overall impact of the changewhether an IT solution is the appropriate solution or whether thechallenges can be addressed through business process change.

Throughout testing provide feedback to IT onthe progress of UAT and outputs/conclusions.

Collaborate with internal and externalstakeholders as required.

Build strategicrelationships within the business teams with allstakeholders.

Act as point contact for one/twokey functional areas within the business.

Project Manage small projects asrequired

Take a significant role in working withthe IT and business teams to ensure that handover from projectstatus to BAU is achieved successfully.

Act asan escalation point as required for 3rd and 4th line support onbusinesschallenges.

Skills& Qualities

A retailindustry background as a Business Analyst with exceptional writtenand oral communication skills.

Demonstrableexpertise in one or two key areas within the retail operationalenvironment (Buying & Merchandising Wholesale ProductionFinance Logistics).

The ability to work closelywith business stakeholders to understand their business and cantranslate their requirements.

An in depthunderstanding of the businesses strategy and IT roadmap and thecontext within which the business operates.

Canunderstand and document the capabilities needed to address thebusiness challenges what are the business problems that need to besolved

Can switch between business and moretechnical language as required depending on the audience beingcommunicated with.

Experience of assisting withbusiness case development and business benefits identification andtracking.

Experience of building businessscenarios and test scripts to support UAT and other types oftesting.

Analytical thinker who is also able tobe creative and innovative in the way they look to solve businesschallenges.

Experience of working within anomnichannel environment.

ISEB.

A crossfunctional awareness of the retailenvironment.

ERP experience within a retailenvironment NetSuite(ideally)/MicrosoftDynamics/SAP/Oracle.
