- Collaborate with the Pharmacy Operations Director to provide clinical professional leadership and strategic guidance across pharmacy services within their designated region.
- Contribute to the development of the clinical and operational strategy through involvement in strategic business planning and communicating and implementing this at service and regional level.
- Support the Pharmacy Operations Director to develop and implement action plans for achieving and maintaining performance targets and KPIs and appropriate quality standards.
- Contribute to the development of medicines management and operational frameworks by leading and joining working parties, delivering staff training, and communicating and implementing at regional/service level.
- Lead on region wide performance evaluation (including identification of service gaps/deficiencies), investigating and resolving incidents, complaints and disciplinary matters and formulating/supporting appropriate remedial action.
- Provide specialist medicines optimisation advice and support during business development opportunities, contract reviews and contract mobilisation/decommissioning.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the service delivery team, setting clear objectives and priorities aligned with organisational goals.
- Oversee day-to-day service delivery, including staffing, resource allocation, risk management, and quality assurance.
- Implement regular meetings and forums with Senior Clinical Pharmacists to provide them with clear guidance and direction on the day-to-day delivery of services for existing and new business endeavours.
- Work closely with their Regional Lead Pharmacist counterpart to ensure collaborative operations across all regions, balancing regional needs effectively.
- Assume responsibility for the client journey, overseeing reports, Drug and Therapeutics, Contract Review, and maintaining a customer-focused approach.
- Collaborate with other Lead Pharmacists (Clinical Excellence) and People Team to develop education, training, and development pathways for pharmacy staff.
- Hold accountability for meeting predefined Key Performance Indicators through efficient resource management.
- Provide leadership and management support to the Senior Clinical Pharmacists team, ensuring seamless pharmacy and medicine management processes.
- Offer clinical and operational direction to the Clinical Pharmacist team, fostering professional growth and development.
- Exercise professional leadership on quality assurance, risk management, performance management, and clinical governance issues.
- Act as a deputy for the Pharmacy Operations Director or Chief Pharmacist in specified meetings and regional meetings when necessary.
- Support the Pharmacy Operations Director with workforce planning, recruitment, development, management, training, and workload distribution across the Clinical Pharmacist Team.
- Responsible for ensuring patient safety incidents are reported, managed and resolved in a timely manner and any lessons learned are disseminated appropriately.
- Undertake key account management responsibilities and nurture essential customer relationships.
- Provide reports and briefings as required, including reports to the Executive and Senior Management Team and operational and strategic meetings.
- Contribute to the management of supply chain and supply problems of medicines.
- Provide strong leadership, fostering teamwork and collaboration across departments within Ashtons'. To motivate and inspire others in order to create and maintain a good working environment and facilitate staff retention.
- Manage, mentor, coach and ensure the development of direct and indirect reports. This includes involvement in delivering appropriate training, recruitment, induction, monitoring performance, managing absence, and conducting appraisals/supervisions, supported by the People Team and Pharmacy Operations Director.
- Foster professional development and growth opportunities for staff members
- Promote and facilitate the involvement of remote staff in company-wide events, for example Company Town Halls and People Team initiatives, whenever feasible.
- To support the development of the training needs analysis, role development and competency framework for the Pharmacy team.
- Support the company in meeting its strategic goals and Strategic Business Improvement Projects.
- Ensure adherence to People policies and procedures for direct and indirect reports.
- Monitor day-to-day performance to meet assigned Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements.
- Act as an escalation point for direct and indirect reports, cascading information as required.
- Conduct thorough investigation and resolution of complaints, incidents, or errors from customers.
- Stay updated with regulatory frameworks and internal governance practices and help to ensure existing and future service compliance.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies during inspections and audits, implementing corrective actions, as necessary.
- Pharmacist, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Relevant post-graduate study (post graduate diploma or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a leadership or managerial role within a pharmacy setting.
- Extensive clinical experience and proficiency in pharmaceutical care.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance, risk management, and clinical governance principles.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Keep abreast of policy and professional development within your area of professional expertise.
- To manage own time effectively, prioritising workload to meet objectives within agreed timescales.

Purpose of the role:
The Regional Lead Pharmacist (North/South) is a pivotal role directly accountable to the Pharmacy Operations Director for the management and development of pharmacy services within Ashtons' portfolio. The role holder will provide leadership to pharmacists (and pharmacy technicians, where appropriate) locally and regionally and will support the Pharmacy Operations Director to provide leadership and management to the clinical services in their respective region and communicate key decisions.
The Regional Lead Pharmacist will collaborate closely with the Chief Pharmacist and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused pharmacy services, meeting defined Key Performance Indicators and driving continuous improvement.
