    MSK- Specialist Podiatrist - London, United Kingdom - Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust

    Description

    In this role you will be at the forefront of delivering new models of care through transformation that meets the needs of our community, and will be able to contribute to the creation of what that looks like as well as positively impacting and enhancing the experiences of our patients in Brent.

    Main duties of the job You will provide day-to-day specialist clinical care in a supported environment and within a dynamic team, to a diverse group of patients. You will work to embed biomechanics within the service and carry some operational management duties supporting the Clinical Team Lead.

    Providing day-to-day professional leadership, you will ensure the needs of patients are placed at the centre of care delivery while providing assurance that standards of clinical care within a designated area is of the highest standard attainable.     • You will provide highly specialised advice to others across professions within our local acute hospital sites and Community clinics
    • Work with Biomechanics Leads within CLCH and other healthcare professionals contributing to the 5 year Strategic Framework for MSK.
    • You will screen patients for biomechanical, MSK and neuromuscular dysfunction within all clinical care settings.
    • Provide educational opportunities to both podiatry and other health and social care staff and patients alike to promote an understanding of biomechanics and the importance of foot function for people affected by MSK injury, dysfunction or disease.

    • Evidence of continual professional and personal development
    • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
    • Certificate in local anaesthesia
    • Evidence or Portfolio of Post Grad Continued Development
    • Post graduate courses/ education in Biomechanics / MSK (Cert or Diploma to M level accreditation)
    Desirable
    • Evidence of Study in area of Specialist interest
    Experience Essential
    • Experience of working at a band 6 level or above and evidence of working with a high risk caseload, neurology, rheumatology, orthopaedic or sports medicine caseload
    • Experience of multidisciplinary and interagency working
    • Experience of working with a wide range of patient and disease / musculoskeletal pathology types / the at-risk and high-risk foot
    • Experience of working in an NHS environment
    • Experience of clinical supervision / mentoring
    • Experience of service development

    • Evidence of Teaching
    Skills & Knowledge Essential
    • Knowledge of recent developments in the profession
    • Full knowledge of podiatric theory and practice
    • Knowledge of RCOP code of conduct
    • Awareness of Equal Opportunities - theory and practice
    • Understanding of Clinical Governance -theory and practice
    • Up-to-date knowledge of clinical issues and treatment
    • In depth / extended knowledge in the management of Biomechanical/Musculoskeletal Conditions
    • Knowledge of audit and risk assessment
    • A working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and its implications in care provision
    • Effective oral, listening and written communication in order to negotiate and persuade patients and carers compliance and commitment to their treatment and care plans
    • Ability to evaluate and analyse patients concerns and needs and propose effective solutions
    • Ability to undertake intricate work in using sensitive diagnostic tools and a range of surgical instruments. e.g in the management and debridement of poor tissue viability wounds and nail surgery
    Desirable
    • Intermediate to Advanced IT Skills including use of Internet, email, Word Packages
    • Presentation Skills / Experience at delivering Health Promotion
