Nursing Specialist - Watford, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom - West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

    Default job background
    Description
An opportunity has arisen for a Respiratory Band 7 to support the in-house Respiratory nursing service and the Virtual Hospital

The post-holder will be responsible for the management of a defined caseload patients/service-users within the respiratory service and will provide specialist nursing support, advice, education and/or care to that specific group.

To include for example the monitoring of blood results, and oxygen assessment and monitoring of oxygen. The post holder will work closely with the virtual hospital to review and refer to the virtual hospital team for consideration of acceptance into the VH

They will carry continuing responsibility for the assessment of needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards for respiratory patients.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate previous substantive experience of working at a band 6 level and display the motivation and skills to support the current existing team in collaboration with senior nursing and organisational staff.

Furthermore, we will also be identifying 'fresh' patients in the emergency department who would be suitable for immediate on-boarding into the virtual hospital to avoid admission.

Again, we need specialist nurse time to support these patients in their rapid journey from ED to home with VH monitoring.

Given the volume of acute admissions, we are seeking additional support to the full time band 8a specialist nurse.

As such, the post-holder will be responsible for the management of a defined caseload patients/service-users within the respiratory service (as described above), provide specialist nursing support, advice, education and/or care to that specific group.

This will include for example the monitoring of blood results, and oxygen assessment and prescribing of oxygen.

The post holder will work very closely with the virtual hospital team and is likely to spend much of their time either supporting the hub nurses or reviewing potential VH patients on the hospital wards.

There has never been a more exciting time to join West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Major redevelopment works are planned as part of the New Hospital Programme.

These will be most dramatic at Watford General Hospital where up to 90% of buildings will be new.

The trust has recently gained 'teaching hospital' status which reflects the dedicated work of many teams and individuals who have set the standard for delivering high quality training, learning and education at all levels of the workforce.
