    As Cancer Nurse Specialist you will act as an advocate for patient care, providing seamless and timely management of patients who are referred to the Skin Cancer service. Working within the Skin Cancer team you will support patient's who present with suspected or confirmed skin cancer or a pre-cancerous condition of the skin. You will provide an individualised, holistic plan of care ensuring effective information gathering and clinical assessment of new and follow up patients. We are looking for an individual who is caring, shows enthusiasm to improve a patients cancer journey and is able to provide support at all levels throughout diagnosis, treatment and follow up care. You will work cohesively within the wider MDT and associated services, providing a high-quality cancer service for patients at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, to ensure the service is effective and accessible. You will provide advice and clinical expertise to health professionals and patients within the trust. You will ensure that patients receive appropriate care at the right time and that decisions about care are not delayed, promoting visibility within their clinical pathways. This unique opportunity requires you to be committed, organised and an excellent communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You must be able to work as part of a team, co-ordinate a caseload of patients whilst also supporting each other in a fast paced environment

    Main duties of the job

    The ideal candidate will be an experienced nurse working at Band 5 or 6 with a keen interest in the management and treatment of Skin Cancer. The main purpose of the role will be to provide support to the Skin Cancer team, taking responsibility for a case load of patients within nurse led clinics with suspected or confirmed skin cancer, or a pre-cancerous skin condition. You will be willing to undertake training to perform specialist clinical procedures and treatments utilised in the management of skin lesions.

    You will provide specialist holistic support and treatment whilst co-ordinating services and personalising the cancer pathway for skin patients. You will work closely with the MDT, wider dermatology team and associated services, and must be able to forge good working relations, and work cohesively within a fast paced environment. Participate in audit, gather information and be able to input this on to various data collection forums and present this to others. Act as an advocate for patient care, be able to liaise with multiple professionals across both TRFT and other cancer/general Hospitals, formulate treatment plans and communicate these effectively.
