    Job summary

    We are looking for part time Receptionists to join the team at Eden Park Surgery.

    Hours: up to 20 hours (to be agreed)

    Successful candidates will need to have experience in working in a busy GP reception and be a team player, ability to multi-task and EMIS Web system and customer service experience.

    Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing of information and assisting patients as required.
  • To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
  • Experience working in a GP practice is essential to this role.

    Job responsibilities

    Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be onoccasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent uponfactors such as workload and staffing levels:

    a. Maintainingand monitoring the practice appointment system

    b. Processpersonal, telephone and e-requests for appointments

    c. Answerincoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requestappropriately

    d. Signpostpatients to the correct service

    e. Initiatingcontact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members andexternal agencies

    f. Readcode data on EMIS Web clinical system

    g. Photocopydocumentation as required

    h. Dataentry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information asrequired

    i. Inputdata into the patients healthcare records as necessary

    j. Directrequests for information SAR, insurance / solicitors letters and DVLA formsto the administrative team

    k. Manageall queries as necessary in an efficient manner

    l. Carryout system searches as requested

    m. Maintaina clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

    n. Monitorand maintain the reception area and notice boards

    o. Supportall clinical staff with general tasks as requested

    Inaddition to the primary responsibilities, the medical administrator may berequested to:

    a. Partakein audit as directed by the audit lead

    b. Supportadministrative staff, providing cover during staff absences

    c. Actionincoming faxes when necessary

    d. Scanningof patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patientshealthcare records

    e. Completeopening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota

    f. Asrequired support in the management of repeat prescriptions, ensuring they areprocessed accurately and efficiently

    g. Orderingand monitoring of stationery supplies
