The Engineering Council is the UK regulatory body for the engineering profession. We hold the national registers of over 229,000 Engineering Technicians (EngTech), Incorporated Engineers (IEng), Chartered Engineers (CEng) and Information and Communications Technology Technicians (ICT_
Tech_
).
In addition, the Engineering Council sets and maintains the internationally recognised standards of professional competence and ethics that govern the award and retention of these titles.
This ensures that employers, government, and wider society - both in the UK and overseas - can have confidence in the knowledge, experience and commitment of professionally registered engineers and technicians.
We are currently seeking an experienced Marketing and Communications Executive to support the delivery of the Engineering Council's marketing and communications strategy, internally and externally.
Key Tasks:
- Contributes to the development and delivery of the organisation's marketing and communications strategy.
- Develops and delivers cost effective approaches to marketing routes and pathways to registration, and professional standards.
- Delivers effective, regular communications with PEIs (including maintaining accurate contact details) and internal communications for the Engineering Council, providing effective copywriting and accurate proof reading for marketing and communications materials (including digital newsletters).
- Monitor and contribute to developing the EngC brand.
- Oversee the work of external agencies, manage relationships with them and act as Secretariat to the Marketing Advisory Group (when established).
- Support the activities of other departments within the Engineering Council, carry out ad hoc marketing activities, and undertake other duties/tasks as directed by the MarComms Manager.
- Support and actively participate in the organisation's commitment to quality management and compliance with ISO certification requirements.
- Support and actively participate in organisation's compliance with GDPR.
Experience and Key Technical Skills:
- Experience of working in a marketing role, with a good understanding of theoretical marketing concepts and marketing mix
- Experience of undertaking research and writing reports (desirable)
- Demonstrable understanding of theoretical marketing concepts and marketing mix.
- Ability to develop and supervise marketing activities
- Ability to write copy/proofreading skills
- Experience of social media
Person Specification:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including good presentation skills
- High degree of IT literacy including standard Office packages
- Excellent organisational skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with a lively and enthusiastic approach
- Able to demonstrate good attention to detail
- Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise and the flexibility to respond positively to changes in priority and deadlines

Qualifications
- Has gained or is studying towards a recognised marketing qualification
