    Clinical Psychologist , Community CAMHS

    Preceptorship opportunity Band 7-8a.


    As a result of service reconfiguration, we have developed an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist wanting to develop their expertise and experience within an expanding Community CAMHS service within the Mansfield & Ashfield, Nottinghamshire area.

    We are able to offer a full time post to work within our Community West CAMHS team.

    We will also consider developing this role as a preceptorship post Band 7-8a and we welcome applications from trainee clinical psychologists about to qualify in 2024.


    This is an ideal opportunity for a clinical psychologist looking to gain experience across a broad range of mental health needs alongside developing their skills in the specialist assessment of neurodevelopmental difficulties including ASD.


    In addition to the MDT teams the post holder will also join an integrated, friendly and supportive group of 20 Psychologists working across the Nottingham City and conurbation multi-disciplinary CAMHs including Children Looked After services.

    The post holder is required to hold a post graduate doctorate in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS and have Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration.

    The post holder will be supported within the MDT team which provides specialist assessment, treatment and support services to children and young people up to 19 years, and their families who present with a broad range of mental health concerns.

    There will be a particular emphasis on clinical psychology supporting alternative formulation where indicated from assessments findings. There will be opportunity for further development and training of specialist assessment skills.


    The post also offers a broad range of experience including consultation, training and supporting clinical networks serving this care group across the Mansfield and Ashfield.

    To provide specialist psychological assessment of clients referred to both the Community CAMHS and Neurodevelopmental pathway, based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of highly complex psychological data from a variety of sources.

    To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a clients mental health problems and or neurodevelopmental needs.

    To undertake risk assessment and management for clients.
    To provide a clinical psychology perspective in multi-disciplinary assessments and treatment programmes.

    Post assessment liaison with agencies supporting a child to ensure that assessment results are understood and well integrated into care and or education plans.

    To act, as case coordinator where appropriate, for the planning and review of care plans for children accessing assessment and or treatment/support.

    To provide advice to other professionals & agencies on psychological aspects of identified risks noted within assessment.

    Driving Licence & Car.

    Post graduate doctorate or equivalent in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS.
    Additional specialist assessment training specific to neurodevelopmental disorders in children and young people including ADHD & ASD

    Training
    Additional training in psychological therapies relevant to working within CAMHS

    Additional training in diagnostic tools assessing ADHD and ASD.
    Additional training in relation to supervision of unqualified and qualified staff.

    Experience of providing specialist clinical psychology assessment and treatment services to children & young people aged 0-18 and their families
    Experience in the assessment of children with developmental concerns or query concerns
    Experience in applying psychological therapy in the treatment of complex mental health needs.
    Experience of consultation and or training to CAMHS and other service staff supporting Children and their families.

    Experience of working in or alongside Tier 4 highly specialist inpatient provision for children & young people with highly complex mental health needs
    Experience in the assessment and treatment of children & YP with ADHD & ASD presentations

    Knowledge of the theory and practices of specialist physiological therapies as practiced within the field of clinical psychology
    Knowledge of approaches or models of working relevant to CAMHS e.g. systemic models, behavioural, attachment & trauma
    Knowledge of guidelines / policy informing best practice within mental services for children and families
    Knowledge of approaches or models of working specific to children with developmental vulnerabilities.
    Knowledge of research and models of good practice that inform direct and indirect working within CAMHS

    Supervision of audit & research activity within a specialist CAMHS setting.
