Bramley Street Adult Community Mental Health Rehabilitation ServiceBand 2 Nursing Assistant Post


A vacancy has arisen for a Band 2 Nursing Assistant at Bramley Street Open Community Rehabilitation unit, which is part of the Rehabilitation Division within Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

The post is permanent.


The Bramley Street Rehab Unit provides inpatient assessment, care and rehabilitation for adults with complex and enduring mental health difficulties who are aged 18 upwards.


The patient's length of stay here will depend on progress through the structured rehabilitation program or by an acute step-down pathway.

Services users can be referred here primarily for structured rehabilitation for 6 to 12 months or we can provide a Step-Down service for those patients who require intensive rehabilitation following an acute admission for up to - 6 months.


The Unit provides in-patient assessment, care and rehabilitation for up to 12 male adults with mental health difficulties aged 18 upwards and the length of stay will depend on progress through the pathway and appropriate risk management for service users.


We are looking for someone who is motivated and able to work using their own initiative and can work creatively to engage with service users who might struggle to engage.


The service will provide a multidisciplinary team approach providing assessment treatment and rehabilitation with an emphasis on moving out into more independent accommodation.


The post holder will be a member of the ward team and will provide support and assistance to the professionally qualified staff on the ward.

Responsibilities will include direct nursing care, clerical, cleaning, ancillary duties and assisting qualified staff with undertaking any identified and appropriate interventions with service users whilst under relevant supervision.

The post holder is expected to support service users to maintain their interests, identity and emotional well-being; to observe and report any changes in the service user's condition to the nurse in charge; report any changes to the environment to the nurse in charge; assist service users to maintain/improve their mobility, supporting them with the use of Public Transport, and to support them to reintegrate back into their local community.


The post holder will encourage service users to maintain their personal hygiene and appearance; assist them to manage their personal and domestic circumstances, supporting shopping and cooking: assist and maintain their nutritional needs and ensure they are catered for; assist, promote and encourage service users to use community facilities; promote social inclusion.


The Post holder will have an interest in Mental Health Wellbeing and Recovery and should ideally have a Qualification Credit Framework Certificate (Previously NVQ level II or III) or equivalent in Health and Social care.
