    Job Title: Chief Systems Engineer at Leonardo

    Leonardo is thrilled to present a fantastic opportunity for a Chief Systems Engineer to join their team.

    As the Chief Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting activities within the Integrated Sensing and Protection (ISP) business at Line of Business level. This senior position will span across two Leonardo sites located in Basildon and Southampton, involving interactions with counterparts from other business areas throughout the UK.

    The vision of the ISP Line of Business (LoB) is to lead in supplying and integrating ISR & Force Protection electronic systems to customers in the UK and beyond.

    In line with the ISP LoB strategy and Systems Engineering Improvement Plan, new and exciting roles have been created to revolutionize operations.

    About the Role

    In this exciting role, you will work across all three Business Areas (BA) within the LoB: Sensors, Comms & Force Protection, and Mission Systems. Your responsibilities as the Chief Systems Engineer will include:

    • Being the focal point for Systems Engineering Governance
    • Trending Systems Engineering capability positively
    • Providing guidance on Systems Thinking and Methods adoption
    • Ensuring successful project execution alignment

    The role will involve working on diverse and complex technologies, with each program at varying stages of development. It is essential to apply the "Art of Systems Engineering" to guarantee the right activities are performed at the right time.

    To excel in this position, you must showcase a passion for systems engineering, possess experience in leading high-performing teams, and demonstrate a strong ability to make quick decisions under pressure while defining a clear technical vision for the team.

    About You

    To qualify for this role, you should have:

    • Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or in a similar role
    • Expertise in applying governance and guidance on Systems Engineering LCM process
    • Leadership skills in a high-complexity environment
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Motivation, tenacity, and determination to deliver results

    Additionally, experience with Model Based Systems Engineering tools, working on large-scale Systems Integration programs, and domain expertise in specialisms like Telecommunications, RF, Electronic Warfare, among others, will be beneficial.

    All applicants must be eligible for full security clearance and access to UK-caveated and ITAR controlled information.
