    Head of Design, Developer Solutions (Bitbucket and Compass)

    tlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity, assuming candidates have eligible working rights and a sufficient timezone overlap with their team. Atlassians can choose to work remotely or return to an office, unless it's necessary for the role to be performed in the office. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company. This role can be performed from Australia, New Zealand or the West Coast of the North America.

    Atlassian is seeking a Head of Design for who will support our Dev Solutions team. Atlassian's products are loved and used by millions of developers and teams worldwide to drive innovation across many fields. The software developer experience will be radically redefined and made dramatically more productive in the next few years with the application of AI, and we will be at the forefront of that transformation.

    Reporting into our VP of Design, you will bring a balance of craft expertise, executive communication skills, org leadership and business acumen. This skill-set will enable you to help us build world class software developer experiences.

    You will lead a team that is passionate about delivering Design which scales to meet the needs of our hundreds of thousands of customers.

    Compensation

    At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

    Zone A: $266,500 - $355,400

    Zone B: $239,900 - $319,800

    Zone C: $221,200 - $295,000

    This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.

    More than ten years experience in executive/senior Design Leadership roles

    A track record of planning and then driving business direction autonomously as a hands-on designer, then subsequently as a manager, and then manager of managers

    Maintain an area of core strength in one or more Design disciplines where you can lead through your expertise

    Have identified and set platform strategies, and seen them through to impact

    Can communicate design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organisation

    Ability to manage a broad portfolio, balancing multiple stakeholders and competing priorities

    You have influenced, defined, and implemented company-wide design strategy

    A demonstrated capability to understand the technical underpinnings of software products

    Can create positive cross- collaboration history with stakeholders, like Engineering, Product Management and Research

    Have proven experience developing and maintaining healthy, productive teams

    Have experience improving and sustaining design rituals at the org level
