East Lothian Council is looking for a proactive, strong, and inclusive individual to fill the role of Principal Teacher (ASN) at The Brae. The Brae is a specialized provision for severe and complex needs connected to Rosehill High School, located on the Wallyford Learning Campus. The facility currently has two classes with a total of 14 students, expected to increase to four classes starting from August.
This secondary school facility aims to promote innovative learning approaches, offering various adaptable teaching environments. In addition to modern and technologically equipped classrooms, there is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) section, a Learning Resource Centre, extensive arts facilities, and a state-of-the-art sports and leisure facility. Education at the campus extends beyond the traditional classroom, incorporating outdoor education and sustainability. The campus also features a variety of communal and health spaces to encourage collaboration among different professionals and sectors. The Brae is purpose-built and includes specific areas to support special educational needs.
The Principal Teacher will have a critical role in supporting the well-being and education of young individuals with complex requirements. This role covers both academic and pastoral leadership, under the guidance of the provision's Depute Head Teacher.

Job Details
Subject to the school and East Lothian Council's regulations, the responsibilities of a Principal Teacher, as part of the school's management team, involve carrying out tasks as instructed by the Head Teacher/Depute Head Teacher, taking into consideration the overall workload of a classroom educator.
