The
Business Development Consultant is a newly created role, reporting into the Head of Business Development & Marketing, and working closely with and part of the Business Development team structure including Business Development Directorsand other Client Relationship Management heads across Wealth, Life and Pensions, Workplace Pensions and Strategic Accounts.


As the
Business Development Consultant, you will cover a combination of pre-sales, sales support and new opportunity bid support and help to shape an evolving and exciting end to end sales strategy to deliver new business targets and 5-yeargrowth plans.


As Business Development Consultant your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting research to provide intelligence on your prospects
  • Maintaining data on key consultancies / market makers
  • Owning completion of market surveys
  • Creating presentations & briefings to consultancies / market makers
  • Providing support with specific client presentations, workshops, and information responses providing structure, management, and content maintenance
  • Demos, acting as 'business development owner' defining demo strategy, roadmap and driving its delivery; support with specific demo requests
  • Acting as business development lead and coordinator
  • Helping to write business development content within bids
  • Go to market activities including lead follow up, other lead generation, making contacts to secure meetings
  • Pipeline management
  • Events coordination as a conduit with Marketing to arrange attendance at events, assist with preparations, being present on event stands

We are looking for a Business Development Consultant who has the following skills and experiences:

  • A good understanding of the Wealth, Life & Pensions and/or Workplace Pensions industry is desirable but not essential. Similarly, knowledge of Third-Party Administration (TPA) / Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and the pension software environment wouldbe beneficial, however greater emphasis is placed on recruiting a bright and multifaceted individual who wants to learn quickly and embrace the opportunity to be part of an evolving and fast-moving sales team.
  • Some experience in a client facing role, or working closely with a sales and/or relationship team
  • An awareness of sales/development processes and marketing techniques
  • Experience of delivering excellence in response to owned deliverables and/or client expectations
  • Experience and comfort in working in a fast moving, matrix environment, that requires working with other teams and individuals across multiple product lines and sites
  • Good commercial and organisational awareness
  • Strong internal and external communication skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to communicate at different seniority levels including up to 'C" level
  • Strong attention to detail and a thorough approach to planning and implementation with an ability to multitask
  • An ability to work successfully remotely, coupled with the ability to travel to different locations for both client and team meetings


In return, the Business Development Consultant can expect a basic salary up to £50,000 with an additional bonus scheme, excellent benefits package, and a home working environment.
