    Salary - Grade 9 £45,441 - £49,498 pa

    This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated professional to join Sunderland's well-regarded Virtual School Team, part of Together for Children's Education Directorate.


    We are seeking to recruit a Lead for our Secondary Achievement Team who will support the Virtual School Headteacher to ensure the Local Authority meets all of its priorities and statutory responsibilities in relation to the education of vulnerable children and young people.


    The Virtual School have an experienced team who are passionate about ensuring vulnerable children and young people receive an education which meets their individual needs and works effectively with our partners to raise educational standards, promote inclusion and wellbeing, and improve the life chances of our young people.


    Successful candidates will have experience and confidence in working with senior leaders in schools, partners in social care and young people and their carers, to promote and support inclusion for children in our care, those previously in our care, those with a kinship carer and all children with a social worker.

    You will be expected to

    Provide leadership and management to the Secondary casework team


    Advise, guide, support and challenge schools and partners to promote the inclusion, progress and achievement of cared for children and young people.


    Liaise with schools, multi-disciplinary agencies, parent/carers, and young people to ensure appropriate and quality education provision is secured and barriers to learning are removed to maximise outcomes for young people.

    Coordinate the electronic Personal Education Planning function for the Virtual School.


    Provide educational information, advice and guidance to professionals and carers working with previously cared for children, children with a social worker, and those with a kinship carer.


    The Virtual School team safeguards and protects its pupils and staff by being committed to respond in accordance with the Together for Children's Safeguarding Policies.

    This position requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check.
