    Description

    Leading Energy Markets and Trading company are looking to hire an experienced Middle Office professional who combines previous experience of supporting Gas or Power trading desks, combined with a technical skillset that includes knowledge of commodity valuations and preferably some programming language experience.

    The Role

    • Generation of an Independent T+1 daily economic P&L revaluation, exposure reporting and full attribution thereof linking back to underlying market and position changes
    • Closely working with the commercial teams to ensure full understanding of the rationale for positions held / trading strategies that are applied, and on a daily basis ensuring the P&L changes and financial exposure modelling are understood
    • Preparation of monthly IFRS complaint portfolio valuations, with full explanation of any variances to the daily Economic P&L, ensuring understanding of the appropriate accounting frameworks
    • Implementation and administration of the daily Independent Price Verification (IPV) and settlement curve integrity processes
    • Create and prepare periodic and ad-hoc valuation reports for senior management (weekly and monthly valuation reporting, IFRS Risks analysis, Economic vs IFRS valuation differences)
    • Conduct any ad-hoc/one-off portfolio analysis upon both the front office or any other Support Function requests with regard to both the economic and IFRS valuation impact of a new commercial transactions/hedging strategies
    • Develop, implement and maintain the Product Control reporting framework within the firms policies, supporting the development of these policies as necessary

    Experience

    • Prior experience in a Middle Office role, environment dealing with reporting, controls and systems development;
    • Good understanding of the energy commodity market, with prior expertise in Natural Gas and/or Power
    • Experience in commodity valuations, across both linear structures and non-linear products (Vanilla Options, Storage, Transportation) is preferred
    • Excellent Excel skills; Experience in VBA/SQL/Python or any other programming language is a preferential
