    Job Description

    This is a remote position.

    Job Summary

    Our customer is looking for Java Engineers.

    Responsibilities & Duties

    Our customer's product OpenAthens requires an experienced Java engineer to work full time in a temporary team to help uplift our code bases to the most recent library versions.

    Essential skills, knowledge, and behaviours

    · A collaborative way of working at pace with managers and other developers.

    · Fluency with Java backend development, including working with modern Java-based API frameworks, such as Spring Boot/Jersey to develop REST-based APIs.

    · Appreciation for Test Driven Development (TDD)

    · Experience of implementing component level automated tests

    · Good verbal and written English-language skills.

    · Experience with Java Restlet framework.

    · Experience of working with Google Web Toolkit (GWT).

    · In-depth knowledge and experience of working with Maven

    · Working with Cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud.

    · Knowledge of federated single sign-on using SAML protocol.

    Security-related

    requirements

    · All developers must have had their identification verified and any prior criminal record fully assessed to reduce security risk.

    · All developers must have completed security awareness training, covering common attacks on users, such as phishing and other means of enticing users to disclose sensitive information, or download unauthorised code.

    · There must be a positive security culture where employees actively report suspected or actual incidents promptly in a no-blame environment.

    · Must perform a risk assessment to understand insider threat.

    · Must have a British Passport or Valid Work Permit for UK.

    · Must have Basic DBS Check Certificate (issued within last 24 months)

    Weekly Working Hours: 40 hours.

    Work Schedule: as per UK office hours.

    Day Rate: GBP 450 per Day all inclusive.

    Extension: Possible for 24 months

    Overtime: Allowed, subject to prior written approval of the project manager.

    Computing Devices: candidate should have his/her own internet connection, computing device to execute day-to-day activities while "Work from home".
