    This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated pharmacist to join our Surgical Clinical Pharmacist team.

    This would be an ideal position for someone with a solid general medical background with great problem solving and communication skills, who can use their knowledge in different scenarios - could you safely advise on alternative treatment options for a patient with temporary intestinal failure post-surgery? Could you ensure their existing medical conditions were treated?The large clinical pharmacy team at University Hospital Southampton (UHS) NHS Foundation Trust consists of over 100 pharmacists including over 50 prescribers and 4 consultant pharmacists.

    You will be supported by experienced senior pharmacists and given the opportunity to develop advanced level skills, including independent prescribing training.

    There is one role available either as a band 6 to 7 progression role or as a band 7 depending on experience.

    All non-clinical roles may involve a mixture of on site and remote working, Specific details and flexible working options can be discussed as part of the interview process.

    You will work closely with the Surgical Clinical Pharmacy team as well as members of the wider multidisciplinary team.

    The position will involve Developing and delivering the clinical pharmacy service to surgical specialist areas as agreed with the Surgical Care Group pharmacists Acting as a deputy in the day to day running of the service for the Surgical Care Group Pharmacists in their absence Delivering extended roles of practice including independent prescribing (training will be provided) Contributing to clinical audit, quality improvement and service development Working with the nutrition team to provide parenteral nutrition (PN) to inpatients and to those on home PN.

    Developing, implementing and reviewing guidelines Participating in surgical, nutrition, micro and pain team ward rounds as agreed with the Surgical Care Group pharmacists Providing clinical supervision for junior rotational pharmacists, pharmacist trainees and training on specialist surgical topics within the multidisciplinary team
    Masters Degree in Pharmacy
    Sound knowledge of a surgical or medical speciality acquired working within a suitable specialty
    Meets Foundation framework/ GLF competencies
    Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience
    Training in medicines information
    Report writing
    Microsoft Office skills
