The Role

Underwriters are at the heart of Capital on Tap as they allow us to grow our portfolio whilst keeping bad debt within appetite.

Reviewing lending applications along with supporting credit reference agency and financial data in order to make an informed credit decision
Performing credit reviews on our back book customers to determine whether their credit decisions are still valid
Helping to facilitate change in underwriting strategy and structure to improve processes and efficiency
Interacting with other internal teams to review all inquiries and provide credit decisions
Facilitating Risk initiatives and pilots by reviewing credit data and making decisions within company appetite
Conducting periodic reviews of individual bad debts to assist in risk, fraud and collections performance reviews

What we're looking for

1+ years' underwriting experience with a minimum of 6 months' mandate (secured or unsecured)
A broad understanding of how businesses operate, financial statements and credit files
Ability to demonstrate best practises in Responsible Lending putting the customer first and protecting the business against bad debt through inaccurate lending decisions
An ability to work autonomously
An ability to use an analytical approach to problem-solving
