    Description
    We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Christchurch, Dorset team

    As Senior Software Engineer for our Christchurch location you will be reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for the design of safety critical, real time control systems which underpin our electric vehicle controllers.

    They will be involved in all aspects of software and control system development from initial concept through to release to production and beyond.

    This includes interpreting customer requirements, defining specifications and developing robust software solutions to meet these requirements on time and to budget.

    Performing interactive and automated unit, integration, system and regression testing.
    On target debugging, root cause fault analysis and reporting.
    Hardware-in-the-loop testing and evaluation of control algorithms.
    Writing of clear technical documentation.
    Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team.
    Ideally qualified to PhD or MSc level in electronics or software discipline with strong control systems content.
    Extensive demonstrable experience in developing real-time, safety critical software for embedded ECU platforms.
    Excellent knowledge of C language, including defensive coding techniques, robust error handling techniques, programming by contract, MISRA C.
    Extensive software simulation and testing using automated test tools.
    Product risk assessment and risk mitigation methods.
    Waterfall and agile development processes.

    Curtiss-Wright Industrial Division, which includes the product brands of Arens Controls, Penny & Giles, PG Drives Technology and Williams Controls, is an excellent supplier in providing components and sub-systems which enable customer specific solutions for on- and off-highway vehicles.

    These include medium- and heavy-duty trucks, buses and motor coaches, construction and agricultural vehicles, materials handling, and other specialty vehicles, as well as sophisticated wheelchairs and scooters for medical mobility.

    We develop and manufacture electronic throttle controls, transmission shifters and sensors for commercial off-highway equipment and heavy trucks, helping to address the long-term trend towards attaining higher fuel efficiency and lower emissions.

    We also supply operator controls and advanced motor controllers for hybrid and electric vehicles, such as buses, forklift trucks, pallet stackers, wheelchairs, and rehabilitation chairs.
