    Purpose of Job

    Employee Relations plays a vital role within the Human Resources & Organisational Development department and across the business to reduce reputational and legal risks to the Bank and provide guidance to line managers, HR colleagues, and staff.

    The Associate Director, Employee Relations, fosters an employee relations environment governed by the Bank's internal regulations, ensuring their application in identifying solutions.

    The role involves managing the Employee Relations team, overseeing deliverables, and fostering a cooperative relationship with the Staff Council.



    The role:


    • Provides expertise on internal dispute resolution matters to HR Business Partners, HR Centres of Expertise, line managers, and employees.
    • Utilizes knowledge of the organization's business drivers and challenges to define effective solutions for employee-related issues.

    Building and maintaining strategic partnerships involves close interaction with various clients and internal units within HR, General Counsel's Office, Compliance Office, Finance Department, and other stakeholders.



    Facts / Scale


    • Collaborates with the Director, Employee Relations, People Solutions & Advisory to advise internal stakeholders on employee relations issues, influencing decision-making processes.
    • Manages Employee Relations and collaborates with key internal stakeholders to enhance the internal dispute resolution framework.
    • Responsible for overseeing administrative committees and tribunals related to employment matters.
    • Works independently on complex and confidential tasks.


    Accountabilities & Responsibilities


    • Provides expert advice and tools to line managers for managing employee relations issues effectively.
    • Manages the relationship with the Staff Council to promote constructive dialogue on employment-related matters.
    • Supports the development and implementation of employee relations directives and procedures in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
    • Offers recommendations on HR policies and procedures to ensure fair leadership decisions.
    • Assists in the negotiation and resolution of employment-related disputes.
    • Oversees the ER-related elements of the HR budget.
    • Supports the HR management team on various HR matters.
    • Manages assigned cases to ensure compliance with policies and processes.
    • Supports the introduction of a new mediation function.


    Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications


    • Relevant degree or equivalent experience required.
    • Extensive experience in Employee Relations and HR generalist roles.
    • Proven ability to challenge stakeholders and influence decisions.
    • Accredited Mediator and negotiation skills preferred.
    • Proficiency in dispute resolution and data analysis.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in legal and regulatory environments.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Sound decision-making abilities with a focus on risk identification.
    • Demonstrates leadership, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
    • Experience in technology application and data analytics.
