    What we're looking for:


    Joining Davies as our latest Desktop Loss Adjuster means that you'll be handling claims of varying complexity and value in an efficient and timely manner, supporting the Loss Adjusting team as directed.

    It's a busy role, with a broad range of responsibilities, but the fundamentals include:

    Have a detailed knowledge of all aspects of Domestic & Commercial claims, processes and be able to interpret and apply policy cover, terms and conditions as appropriateHave a detailed knowledge of Building structures including foundations, walls, spanning members their performance and the nature of building materials and material pathology such as freeze-thaw cycle, moisture gradients, rising damp, creep, chemical attack.

    Have a thorough understanding of the nature of building defects and their causes.

    Be able to correctly diagnose defects and be able to identify the most appropriate remedial actionHave a knowledge and understanding of the insurable peril - Subsidence Heave and Landslip and if role appropriate accurately apply policy wording to building claimsUnderstand the principles of building repair and maintenanceHave detailed knowledge of Contractors All Risks, Business Interruption and SME claims settlementDemonstrate a thorough knowledge of all aspects of Contents claims handlingBe familiar with restoration procedures and processes following Fire and Flood and similar related incidentsProactively direct an investigation appropriate to the circumstancesDemonstrate applied understanding of advanced negotiation skills to achieve settlement at no more than maximum identified figureDemonstrate applied understanding of the legal principles giving rise to subrogation and achieve successful recoveriesBe able to identify alternative mechanisms for settling claims and consider the impact on indemnity costBe able to use concepts, theories and ideas to negotiate and settle claimsMake judgements and tailor existing practice to settle complex casesBe able to provide in-depth and expert advice to Customers, Clients and other Loss AdjustersHave a thorough understanding and application of the file review process and identify potential leakage as part of the claims settlement processApply creativity to obtain the best solution to the claims settlement for the ClientBe able to undertake investigative interviews on allocated casesBe able to obtain witness statements and undertake advanced interviewsEfficient handling of department insurance claims and any other claims following standard proceduresEnsure correspondence both written and verbal is responded to within service standardsEnsure the accuracy of information recorded in the databaseAchieve service standards, company and contractual requirementsAdapt to the constantly changing requirements of the department and the company and perform additional tasks as may be requiredTraining will be provided which will be specific and pertinent to the role but will require knowledge, understanding and capability in the following areas:Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and changing environmentDependability and persistence are essentialFlexible approach and adaptable to changing prioritiesFull driving license requiredInsurance claims experienceACII and ACILA qualifications preferableWhat we offer:You'll enjoy benefits such as above-statutory holidays, pension, life assurance, retail discounts, access to training and professional qualifications, Corporate Social Responsibility events, Innovation Lab programmes, Davies Incentive Programme, Employee Assistance Programme, and other wellbeing services ....
