    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly skilled individual to lead a dedicated team in driving the quality and clinical effectiveness agenda within Newcastle Hospitals.

    The successful candidate will provide 12 months of maternity leave cover and will work as part of the Clinical Governance and Risk Department (CGARD), as part of a supportive group of senior managers.

    You will bring experience of working within Quality and Safety roles and be able to engage others and develop robust relationships with a wide variety of audiences.

    The successful candidate will take a lead role in the development and evaluation of the recently implemented Quality and Safety Governance Framework within Clinical Boards, in relation to the Quality Governance Agenda.

    The post holder will play a significant role in supporting clinical teams with specialist advice and guidance in relation to all aspects of quality assurance, clinical effectiveness, audit and policy development.

    The Head of Quality Assurance and Clinical Effectiveness is a key leadership role within the organisation who has oversight and responsibility for several key clinical governance functions such as policies and guidelines, external agency visits and the Quality Strategy.

    It is essential that they are a visible and accessible presence and able to work with a wide variety of individuals and groups both within and out with the organisation, to develop and influence high quality and effective care for patients.

    The post holder will lead a team of staff to develop, implement and monitor practice through audit and compliance with National and local Trust policies, protocols and guidelines.

    The role will have line management responsibility of roles within the Quality and Effectiveness Team, ensuring staff have a clear understanding of their job roles and expectation.

    The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Quality and Effectiveness, Deputy Director Quality and Safety, Head of Patient Safety and Head of Risk, Compliance and Assurance to support external assessments relating to Clinical Governance, Quality and Safety.

    They will also play a key role in supporting Clinical Boards in the achievement of an effective quality governance structure.

    You will have the opportunity to utilise excellent communication and influencing skills, working closely alongside other organisational senior leaders, including the Medical Director, senior nursing team and Clinical Board Directors of Operations to ensure the delivery, and gain the assurance of high quality, clinically effective care.

    In addition, this post holds a key leadership role within CGARD, supporting the Director of Quality and Effectiveness and the Deputy Director of Quality and Safety.

    The post holder will have responsibility for leading, developing and coordinating systems to provide on-going assurance of quality of care and clinical effectiveness, including:
    o The Quality Account
    o Integrated Quality Report
    National and local audit
    Policies, guidelines and protocols

    The post holder will deputise for the Director of Quality and Effectiveness/Deputy Director Quality and Safety for all matters associated with care quality and clinical effectiveness.

    Coordination and quality assurance of evidence for Quality and Risk Management external assessments including the Care Quality Commission.

    The post holder will be a visible leader and role model within the organisation to engage staff and enable the delivery of improved quality of care for patients and carers.
