    Description

    The Field Support Technician is responsible for a variety of tasks including handling service desk requests, resolving issues with PC laptops and desktops, assisting colleagues with software usage, troubleshooting connection problems, and ensuring devices are protected against cyber threats. This role involves collaborating closely with the broader Digital Services team to maintain consistency across SPS operations.

    We are seeking an individual with excellent communication skills to serve as the primary contact for colleagues utilizing our IT services. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in a support environment, adapt well to the fast-paced nature of IT, possess initiative, and be a team player.

    Duties will involve:

    • Installation and configuration of workstation equipment, including desktops and laptops.
    • Collaboration with other members of the Digital Services team to uphold organizational computer system security.
    • Diagnosis and resolution of end user computing issues, from problem analysis to testing proposed solutions and ensuring resolution.
    • Monitoring of SPS applications usage and user access to ensure alignment with role requirements, with prompt reporting of any violations.
    • Effective verbal and written communication at all levels representing Digital Services professionally. Commitment to delivering top-notch service and collaborating effectively within a team.
    • Coordination and oversight of major establishment changes such as desktop upgrades and phone rollouts.

    Key qualifications:

    • Minimum of five National 5 qualifications, including English and Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
    • Hands-on experience with deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various IT assets like printers, VoIP devices, and AV equipment.
    • Proficiency in supporting and managing common desktop applications and services (e.g., MS Office, VPN clients, video conferencing, endpoint protection).
    • Strong numeracy skills with the ability to analyze and interpret diverse information.
