    Freelance
    Description
For nearly 70 years, AWE has been at the forefront of nuclear weapons research and development. We also use our unique skills to provide wider UK government with counter-terrorism and nuclear threat reduction solutions.
Information Services and Security have a vital role to play in a crucial national mission.

As AWE transforms itself to meet the needs of the UK's next-generation nuclear deterrent, we need to adapt to deliver data-driven decision making, flexible and future-proofed IT services, adaptable cyber security, support to a multi-billion Pound building programme, and many more.

We won't deceive you, in some areas we're starting from a low base, but within ten years this organisation will look very different, and you can help make that happen.

This is a role where you'll contribute to a legacy of national security for decades to come.

We are looking to recruit a resourceful and diligent person to join the AWE Security team as a Security Advisor as we work to deliver the support AWE needs in a variety of interesting and challenging posts.

Do you want to develop into integrated SME across all security functions – Physical; Personnel and Security Forces?
Do you enjoy communicating with diverse groups and building new relationships?
Could you write security requirements and security management plans?
Could you prepare and deliver briefings, presentations and/or training to develop security knowledge and awareness?
Do you believe that you could apply security risk methodology in a variety of real situations?
As a Security Advisor you will be key to the future of AWE.

The successful candidate must be willing to take ownership of their own performance and have an aspiration to lead.

If you're looking for a role with excitement, intrigue and something that really makes a difference then now is the time to join AWE.

We are at the start of a once in a generation – possibly two generations – programme to design and produce a replacement warhead for the UK's continuous at sea deterrent.

We will do this while continuing to deliver the Trident programme as well as managing ambitious state-of-the-art capital and construction projects – some of which have never been done before.

We are recruiting right across the business: from technical roles in engineering, science, manufacturing and industrial work to business roles in areas such as IT, project management/ controls, commercial, human resources and facilities management.

We also have our Evolve graduate programme, or you may be interested in an apprenticeship with our award-winning Skills Academy.

What we do is vital to national nuclear security.

So, as you would expect, that brings with it a high level of safety and security that you will see across our sites and in how everyone who works here operates.
