    RSCN, with significant post registration experience

    An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Highland Children's Community Nursing Team for a band 6 Paediatric Nurse.

    We are seeking a suitably experienced registered paediatric nurse who is enthusiastic, motivated and committed to working with children and young people with chronic health needs in the community. This post will sit within the Children's Community Nursing team but will also have a remit providing support to various paediatric nurse specialist services, depending on activity and clinical need.

    You must possess excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, and be able to work as part of a large multidisciplinary team.

    Part of the required work will sit within the CCN team and will involve delivering and facilitating high quality nursing care to children with chronic health needs in the community and teaching children/parents/carers the skills necessary to enable to care for their child at home. You must be able to act as a key worker, lead professional and specialist resource, and to deputise for the team leader when required. You will be supported by the CCN team through line management and supervision, and you must be willing to undertake development and educational activities as required.

    An additional element of the post will involve working within the specialist nursing services as a dynamic, exciting opportunity which will develop nursing skills, whilst supporting these diverse services. The expectation of the various specialist service support will depend on the service need, but also the experience of the candidates. These services include but are not limited to; Allergy, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology and Continence.

    The postholder needs the ability to work flexibly across services which might include working outside normal working hours according to the changing needs of these services. However, currently the CCN and specialist nurse teams provide a Monday-Friday 9-5 service.

    NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
