    There is an opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our East ACC Clinical Team as Clinical Duty Manager for a fixed term 24-month secondment. Working with our Clinical Advisors and Clinical Support staff within our East ACC, providing support and leadership for your team and support to the National Integrated Clinical Hub through absence management, rostering, recruitment and training, clinical governance and national policy reviews which effect the national hub.

    The Role:

    Remote health assessment and telephone triage is at the forefront of patient care with significant development ongoing in this specialist field to equip skilled practitioners to provide first class clinical care for the people of Scotland.

    You will work as part of the EAST Ambulance Control Centre (ACC) clinical team to support the Clinicians working within the Clinical Hub to provide excellent emergency care to the patients of Scotland. Although based in the EAST at Norseman House you will be part of a team supporting a national team of Clinicians so travel between the 3 ACCs is essential.

    You will primarily be responsible for managing the day to day running of the Clinical Hub by supporting the clinicians including the Clinical Advisors, Timed admission Hub, remote hubs and Clinical Support roles, focusing on staff welfare and facilitating staff to maintain and develop their clinical knowledge and skills. You will liaise with the Senior Clinical Support Managers to ensure live clinical support to all clinicians within the Hub and support the wider ACC – supervisors and duty managers. We are undergoing some significant recruitment over the next 9mths so you will be involved in the ongoing recruitment and training of Clinical Advisors and Clinical Support roles.

    In addition, you will provide information to the wider health communities of Scotland for example GPs / Hospitals and other NHS organisations through the management of patient related enquiries via DATIX/ SEAR investigations providing clinical reviews and reports. Collating and analysing data to evidence change within the Clinical Hub and through the wider ACC

    The Person:

    You should have significant, demonstrable post registration experience, with previous experience in an ambulance service, acute or primary care setting. Previous telephone triage experience is preferable but not essential. You should possess the drive and enthusiasm to deliver results within tight timeframes and understand the key issues and challenges facing the Clinical Hub within the ACC and wider SAS organisation. It is essential that you possess excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, organisational and analytical skills along with the ability to effectively manage and prioritise workloads. You should be able to demonstrate strong leadership and have the ability to build, motivate, mentor and lead teams.

    Some experience in planning and facilitating training for staff would be an advantage due to the upcoming recruitment programme within the Clinical Hub

    You should ideally have previous experience of stakeholder engagement, experience of managing people and have been involved in managing projects. Previous experience in leading people through change is essential, as is ability to evidence this change through data analyse and reporting.

    You must be committed to improving quality and standards of care, procedures, technology, and support cultural change. You must also be IT literate and possess and be flexible, as travel between sites is essential. This post has some unsocial working across a 7-day roster.

    NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
